Narrative is interesting but leaving out a lot. For example that Bowie seemed bisexual.. It’s important and essential to comprehend a person. Everybody were surprised when he got married. Because back then he was considered an homosexual. I think is first marriage wasn’t known. Plus the narrator said that they were a blended family. Then not a lot of details about the other children. Lastly the photos are not corresponding to the things being said.

I saw this movie in theatres and knew I was witnessing something special. I was surprised years later when I found out it had not been a hit. I just assumed everybody went to see it. In a way, it was good it was not a hit since it would not be playing every other day on TV (because it's cheap - not a hit - and it's long so it fills alot of time at little cost) which is where it found its audience. If it's playing on TV, I just let it run from that point on. It does not matter if it's from the middle somewhere and it does not matter if I don't pay all that much attention and do other things. I know the journey and just catching glimpse of it here and there is comforting.

@@geraldframinghammer2626 my argument is fans of the movie refuse to accurately describe what the movie is, its the fans not me who twist the movie into what they want it to be... its the same phenomenon as Its A Wonderful Life... dumb folk noticed if they hit the on button on their TV remote that Wonderful Life or Shawshank was on, therefor it must be good because TV knows best... i stopped watching TV in 2014, but was never tempted to watch a supposedly great movie loaded with TV commercials, which obviously does not bother fans of the film--they love talking about how it was on TV all the time... fans of Its A Wonderful Life refuse to state its a Christian Fantasy (a major plot point is an angel preventing a suicide), in the exact same way Shawshank is ass rape in the first half, and an unbelievable escape in the second half; which obviously does not make for a great movie... have you seen Jacob's Ladder or Seven, those are really good to great movies... fax!!!

No Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins chemistry no movie. It was a masterstroke to bring in Freeman. I can’t think of any other actor that could pull off Red. Robbins nailed Andy to. Plus the star studded cast of supporting actors makes this an incredible dramatic movie. I’m not a big drama movie fan, this one is riveting. A TEN! 👍👍 I always stop and watch it whenever it’s on. I have questions....Why was that wall so thick it took 20 yrs to get through? It had to be more than 6' since he had to drag his bag behind him. Why didn't the wall have reinforcing re-bar? Why did the pipe explode with sewage when it obviously isn't under pressure since the end is open? Speaking of the opening...how did he know which pipe and how did he know it didn't lead to a barred end?

I’ll do you a few better. How did the Wardens suit and dress shoes fit Andy? The Warden was at least a foot shorter and had smaller feet. How’d he keep them so clean and pressed all rolled up in that ball he dragged behind him through the sewage? How much time lapsed between Andy’s escape, dropping the evidence on the prison in the Banks outgoing mail, the news reporting on it, did it take for State Law Enforcement to bust prison officials? Didn’t they investigate first? Morgan does say “ some time later” how much? Seemed like that week. Still a great movie.

I never heard of it until it popped up on TNT one afternoon. I watched it and Immediately wanted to watch it again. I looked it up in TV Guide for the next showing and I taped it on my VCR. It became one of my favorite films of all time. I wish I could rewatch it for the first time again.
