While it does charge via USB, that's only on the end that plugs into the charger; as you can see, the camera end of the cable is a proprietary plug that connects to that rectangular slot on the bottom you showed. IIRC, the next year's model went with a standardized micro-USB connector on the camera.

Is this USB 3.0 port, or is it only 2.0 speeds? It appears the included cable is only 2.0 itself but I'm not 100% on that... But I wanted to make sure because this adapter would be far more useful if its 3.0 or better. I cant find anything about it online

@@B-ROYalty Guess what you are wrong the adapter is just for transfer files to an USB flash drive, when I try to charge it with the adapter the phone did not detect the power, it was necessary to buy the charger.
