I love Harry’s laid back sound! I sure do miss him and regret that I never got a chance to meet him in person. His music has been such a big influence throughout my life.😎

Oh, Harry... my man. I wept blood on that fateful day, like when your mate John Winston was taken. Thank goodness we still have Randy.

Wow! Never heard this. This would have been a great track for the 2012 reunion album. Having Al and Bruce and Mike in the harmonies.

Biff Henderson Yeah, this was a great solo track by Brian and it wasn’t even on his Lucky Old Sun album! Would’ve been so great to hear this on their 2012 reunion album.

What and when is this from? The last album that was unreleased?
@jarnett797 жыл бұрын
Mark James Meli Yes, this was from his last unreleased album. You can get this track and another called Animal Farm from a great compilation called Perfect Day: The Songs of Nilsson

"UCLA" is a song Harry wrote and recorded in 1992 with Mark Hudson's help at his recording studio. The song was not included on Harry's final unreleased album "Papa's Got a Brown New Robe". It was brought out by Nilsson's estate's publishing administrator on a limited-edition CD called "Perfect Day". This info is according to Alyn Shipton, author of Nilsson's biography " NILSSON The Life Of a Singer - Songwriter". Great Book! Written in 2013. It's my Harry bible.

Sometimes a stranger can seem like a lender A friend A buddy A prize When the going gets tough And the journey turns rough There's always a new sunrise When it hurts too much to laugh And you're much too old to cry You must never bite the hand of fate And here's the reason why You may find it in your heart To begin again And start But without someone to tell You might as well just yell And here's the reason why I... I... (just thought of something) What if I could read what's in your mind Wouldn't you say, 'There's a friend of mine' And wouldn't you prepare yourself to bet One who would explain the things you'd really like to say Like 'young girl could explain that hunger' It's just a turn of phrase I could go for days and days Whilst never asking any praise If only I could raise enough To satisfy a sea that's rough And help a stranger in his need Who'd help me cultivate a seed And sew the seed into my knead Everybody's got to eat Sometimes a stranger can seem like a lender Safe Compassionate And wise When the going gets tough and the sea seems rough Prepare yourself for a big surprise When it hurts too much to laugh And you're much too old to cry You must never tempt the hand of fate And here's the reason why You may find it in your heart To begin again And start But without someone to tell You might as well just yell And here's the reason why Everybody's got to eat

Well done! I have been trying to figure out some lyrics too. I keep reposting the Flying saucer song cause it's always wrong. Anyway, I did the Popeye demos also before seeing this and your transcription is almost exactly the same. I heard only two little words in the lyrics I heard differently in these verses personally.... but this is all: What if I could read what's in your mind? Wouldn't you say, 'There's a friend of mine'? And wouldn't you prepare yourself for bed? One who would explain the things you'd really like to say Like 'younger could explain that hunger' It's just a turn of phrase ---------
