@j.f.4765 I used a long "clamp on cymbal boom arm"... you can get those from any brand... I like Tama, but gibraltar makes some nice cheaper ones too. Pearl makes some really expensive ones. It's just clamped onto the body of the snare stand.

Thank you for your video. Think I will buy BFD3 where it is on sale. Regarding your stick technique, you might want to look at a few videos, or take a couple of lessons from an excellent drummer in your area. The lessons would likely be best since a person can give you feedback in real time. Learning to use the fulcrum point and loosening up your grip would go a long away in helping you to improve. I hope you do not take this comment as an insult, and I apologize if you do. Edit: I just noticed that this video is four years old so you may have already made improvements with your playing technique. Cheers!

I hope they come out with an all mesh version, with duel zones on everything !!! I don't mind the small woodblocks as cymbals. They work well and the dynamics aren't too bad either, but they could integrate that a bit better too... When its tuned a bit higher, with EMAD on the kick drum it actually resonates a bit better, which provides a bit more bass (even if the pitch may be higher). But yes, it will not achieve the same level of low end bass as a larger set of drums. It can work great for some genres of music still.

It is tuned low. Each drum does have its own relative pitch. But anyway, I should've made the video showing the drums in different tunings. High, mid, and low tunings as well as the mathematical tension that would get the most resonance for each circumference. Perhaps in the future I can do that. Nowadays, I am enjoying a more resonant tuning with calftone heads

I am one of those who bought an 18 inch Evans EMAD bass head for the Tama Pancake and it did not fit either hoop. I then put it on my 18 inch Catalina Club bass batter hoop and it fit. Put the CC batter head on the tama and it fit. A Remo Calfskin head sounded like paper on the batter side so I put it on the reso head and the kick has nice deep tone now. Coated emperors on the toms tuned medium high really boom. Coated Ambassador for the snare batter was an upgrade too, but not as much difference as getting rid of those plastic tom heads.

Indeed. I changed all the heads to evans and I love the tone. Snare I switch to calftone. It's goodnto highlight you had issues with kick drum heads... I didn't but saw another comment mentioning the same, so maybe there is some QC issue going in hmmm

@SimpleAndyRock
@SimpleAndyRock Жыл бұрын
No issues, but it needs to be a bass drum head, and not a tom head. 18" tom heads are slightly different. Maybe those people were using 18" tom batter heads. The metal collar is different in the tom heads. I've tried a few different 18" heads without issue, so I'm going by that. Most I ever put on it was 350 (same but also adding the yellow 35lb plates). If you google something like "york barbell 204 rack rated for pounds" it seems the max recommended weight is about 400lb per some websites (cant see the rating on Yorks own website though) Anyways its a fantastic compact rack.

I think they'll work, you may want to choke the drums a bit too though with a t shirt or some moongels. I occasionally take compact drums to jam w friends on parks. I use the l80s in those occasions, and simply put moongels on the drums. If I can make a bit more noise I take the ageans, which are better balanced w the drums (by that I mean not as quiet as the zildjians by a noticeable amount)

Really love having the option with the Roland USB ride to assign a nice crash to my shoulder zone, and am missing it with this configuration. Hey, yeah it's an awesome software, but indeed there is no map for td50. I used td30, and then any missing stuff or stuff id like to adjust I'd tweak via either the learn button, and for hi hat there is a section where you can tweak the open close states. I had to change the curve at which it would trigger the close sound for most sample packs as I found I'd have to put a ridiculous amount of force for the closed state. So changed it to feel like a real hat. But yeah long story short there isn't a full preset. Bfd3 to me sounds better than sd3, but sadly it seems it's not as well supported since inmusic bought the company.
