Have i missed something? What happens if you take a big wave in the cockpit.....does it all pour into the saloon? Otherwise quite something!

@johnmosesbrowning1855 Thats the first thing I noticed about the chess board in the table as well. Imagine the time effort and cost that went into putting that in only to make a fundamental mistake like that. Makes you wonder what other fundamental mistakes are in the boat. All style and no substance.

So theres only one shower in the boat? Also, would the glass windows not be a problem if the hull bends in bad weather?

Very nice cat. I can only see one flaw with it. The chessboard is 90 degrees wrong. You always need a light sqare on your bottom right. Please let the carpenter know. Regards from Germany.

Whatever happened to the Broadblue 346 Powercat slated for 2023? Full roof of solar panels including on an extended hardtop over the helm station to power the batteries. There’s a lot of windows, no need for sunroof ports. A removable mast for inland rivers. Master cabin island bed, no climbing over anyone. Are there window wipers? Electric heads. Green boating is coming. I like the 346 powercat, hopyacht 30, and a couple more.

Still loving the lines of this vessel and design principles the only thing i might consider adding is a shortcut straight out onto the front deck and solar blinds to control heat build up. Perhapse more area for Solar power.

over 200 nM a day. that's great, sleek design, does it have dagger boards? - can it be customized to incorporate dagger boards? does it hoby horse often in chop? and how narrow can it point?

Love the boat…it was/is ahead of its time…couple of questions : - why the anchor at the foot of the longeron and not at the end? Doesn’t that make anchoring more difficult? Does the boat move over the anchor while swinging? - placement of liferaft? Isn’t it hidden behind the dinghy in an emergency? - where do you store food and provisions?
@broadbluecatamarans Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for your question @donaldvanvliet9039 R550 anchor position The anchor is positioned where it is to reduce the weight forward and help reduce pitching. Keeping the anchor and all the chain weight as close to the centre of pitch reduces the tendency for the boat to continue pitching and improves the performance by reducing lost energy. All modern catamarans without a solid foredeck must use a bridle to transfer the anchoring loads into the bow and so once anchor is deployed, a bridle is set and there’s no discernible difference in the swinging of the boat at anchor.

Rapier 400 just looks like an outdated Seawind.
@broadbluecatamarans Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment regarding the comparison with a Seawind; The Rapier 400 is designed as a performance cruiser and is therefore much lighter than most, if not all production competitors including the Seawind, Lagoon, Nautitech and Leopard. The lightweight and lower installed height of the sail plan allows for a better power to weight ration than any other model in its class. The open plan layout of the Rapier 400 is much more usable than some other brands because there isn’t a large door sweeping across the floor on its way into the coachroof, limiting the use and furniture in this area and the central helm station makes visibility from the helm to all corners of the boat very easy.

Very nice! What wind did you have and what speed did you reach?
@markjarvis4056 Жыл бұрын
This was mid-Atlantic so typical trade wind sailing of 15 to 25knots true. With this sail, apparent wind was around 6-8kn and so boat speed was between 8-18knots. Highest daily run was 300 miles.

Price in US Dollars?
@broadbluecatamarans Жыл бұрын
Hey Todd, thanks for your question. We have a dedicated build facility that enables us to build new boats within a 12-18 month period that are semi-bespoke. Our clients are able to enjoy a level of customisation. Email me and we can then work through your "wish list" and I will then be able to provide a price based on that specification. You can reach me, Mark, at [email protected]. For more details, click this link to our website www.broadblue.com/broadblue-cruising-catamarans. Have a great week!

Great design. Internal cockpit, geat for stormy day. But i wonder if there is an accident on the sail, isn't it will difficult to move to go to outside. Is there any door direct to bow/front outside of this boat?
@kirkb3473 Жыл бұрын
You don't actually mention what resin you are using...that would be very helpful to future buyers to know. So is the a 100% epoxy e-glass boat, or did you go with the less expensive vinyl ester?

Strange that as an cat. builder, you doesn't know the acrylic are not being utilized as windows in boats. They are polycarbonate, many times liter then glass!
@markjarvis4056 Жыл бұрын
Acrylics and polycarbonate are lighter, and less expensive but they have a thermal expansion rate 5 times that of glass, causing window leaks after a short time and they craze (even polycarbonate) and their life is much less than glass. That’s why almost all Broadblues use fully bonded toughened and hardened glass. The only exception is the Rapier 400 where the lighter weight of the polycarbonate wins out.
