your eyes remind me of blueberries the kind that look sour the green ones that when you bite into them taste completely different, sweet.

Very much of its time. It's inoffensive, but it does smack of Paul Weller desperately scrabbling around for a way to stay fashionable at a time of minimal inspiration. Luckily he had the sense to pick up his guitar again, and the talent to write many, many more great songs....

This isn't my thing at all, but on listening to it, it's no worse if not better than a lot of the stuff that was coming out around '88/89. Most of it left me cold so I'm not in any way an expert on acid house/house music but I can see people liking this. It is created to be listened to in a club, that is the thing about this kind of music. I can imagine it has a different impact played very loud with lots of folks digging it. Paul's voice sounds great when it comes in.

so nice to hear this song again, which I've missed dearly since I started streaming music instead of keeping days worth of mp3s on my computer. I got these songs from a friends ipod and never knew anything about the band except that they were probably swedish, but for a decade I had them on heavy play. Love.

did you know this was a lost song?
@Ornothz9 ай бұрын
@@andreasvonwolcker8266 it was never a lost song. people just didn't know it's name, it has been sitting here the entire time
Style Council got too pretentious by the late 80's and stopped writing clever and political pop songs, for posturing and pretending to be a jazz band. Then the following year (89) they completely ran out of ideas and just jumped in the emerging dance music bandwagon. No wonder they split up in 1990. Weller needed to find himself again, and boy did he do this be going solo. He managed to completely reinvent himself in the space of a few years, by rekindling that 'Jam vibe' again. I think he's pivotal in the history of British pop, and forms a crucial link between 60's bands such as The Who, and bands from the 90's like Oasis, and Ocean Colour Scene. The irony is that he epitomises the ultimate 'Mod' and mod look, even more so than Pete Townsend and Roger Daltry - both of whom were active in its 60's heyday. But he's spent nearly his whole career idolising both of them.
