Thanks for watching - I really appreciate it! I have more videos that show other fishing spots in the PCB area if you want to look around. My videos from last year are more detailed and show driving directions. My set up was the Penn Battle III combo - it’s a 3000 reel on a med/light 7’ rod with 20 lb braid and a 30 lb leader. I got it at Half Hitch Tackle - LOVE that place! They have setups that aren’t too expensive and will spool your reel while you wait. The smaller (3 inch) gulp was the only thing that worked for me this year. I hope you have a great trip - let me know how it goes! Tight lines my friend!

Howdy - thanks for watching, I really appreciate it. That whole sequence took me off guard - it looked like a boat wake but no boats were around - I’m from KY so I’ve not seen many subs in my lifetime 😊😊. The water was pretty shallow - too shallow for a sub I would think. Some have commented that there are mini subs - that makes sense. So - yeah after bit of thought I figured it had to be a sub - just wasn’t sure since I’ve never seen one. Thanks again - tight lines my friend!

Gizzard shad are abundant in East Lynn. You'll often see the balls moving around at the surface. Also lots of bluegill and juvenile crappie make their way into a bass's stomach here. Also there are numerous juvenile carp in the weed beds so dont be afraid to throw yellow/copper/gold colors. I have caught a few good bass on medium sized glide baits this year in colors imitating juvenile crappie and the older class of non yearling gizzard shad. East lynn produces quite a few of dinks for me, but that may be in my lure choices and/or where and how I fish. That said I have also caught some 3-4 pound fish this year and missed a bunch of this year while my boat was out of commission. So limited bass fishing time. If you can fly fish, there are some absolute brutish carp way up the river arm and the bigger creeks in the shallows. I dont have a kayak but have been towed hundreds of feet by carp in a canoe it's a hoot. The lake is truly overpopulated by carp to the point that it degrades other aspects of the fishery. Once the water warms many of the bass really seem to stay deeper here most of the time. I fight that with crankbaits, jigs, and weighted plastics. 10-15 feet deep seems to be a sweet spot for summer.

I have been going to different parts of the lake - my best luck has been towards the dam - next time I am going back that way. I do fly fish - what flies work for carp - that is a new one to me 😊😊. @@andrewdixon8612 That is a whole new can of worms.. like catching a hybrid on that ultralight... it's an experience. It's sight fishing to tailing/mudding fish way up the creeks in the shallow flats so it's like bonefish or redfish. Spooky, picky, smart fish... but thats the challenge. But sight fishing is instant feedback so one learns quickly. Overall I have had most consistent luck on a "hybrid" carp fly (that's the name) and I tie them in natural colors. Brown, dark tan, black. I use small beadchain eyes instead of dumbell eyes. Other good flies are out there too. While I have landed many on a 5wt.. I also have a 4 piece TFO that is now a 5 piece lol. I now own a saltwater 6wt (most people use 7 or 8 but i'm a finesse-y guy 😁) Also make sure your drag is solid, and set well. 10lb leaders and I like fluoro for the abrasion resistance but mono works. Make damn sure your line to backing connection is solid as I have been deeep into my backing several times. Some carp are absolute drag smokers. Some are bulldogs. Treat it as you would a saltwater fish they are serious. My best so far was approx 16lbs and I've had numerous fish in the teens. It's a wicked good time. So that you have the best initial experience, I recommend doing this in spring through early summer before the grasses grow up. They will be nice and shallow and a little more aggressive. Sometimes they will be in inches of water with their tails up in the air feeding. Fly carping had a major boom about a decade ago so there is a good knowledge base of flies that work and the technique. You can also buy flies commercially (I like the smaller sizes, natural colors, and beadchain eyes for a gentle sink rate) Right now due to droughts, water level drops, natural patterns, etc. they have pushed off into 3+ feet of water and are currently not that viable. I've done it but an already challenging fish becomes extremely difficult. Catch them shallow though and you can certainly make it happen. Be ready for the ride of your life in a kayak 😁😁😁 That ought to be enough to get you started. I learned how to do it from youtube so I know anyone can do it. Good luck!

If they would make some wide pedal for people who have very wide feet 🦶 that wouldn't be a problem for me. I have been looking all over for wider pedal but can't find anything. I have bike with very wide pedal on it but the way they are made I can't take them off the bike 🚲 & that company went out of business . A buddy of mine is seeing if he can make Custom wide pedal for me that would be at least 7 " inches wide because my feet 🦶 are 6 1/2 inches wide from my big toe to my lil toe that way I wouldn't have to take off my flip flops 🩴to pedal I could just keep them on . But I still would have to take my flip flops 🩴 off to drive barefooted 🦶 because my feet 🦶 touch both gas and brakes pedal at the same time . I have to look down at the pedal to see where to put my foot at so that I don't have a rear end collection . The big problem that I have for having big very very Extremely wide feet 🦶 with toes that are Evenly straight across. I will always stay barefooted 👣 my barefooted friend . You are welcome my barefooted 👣 friend . I really enjoy talking with you my barefooted 👣 friend . I hope you are having a good weekend buddy .

@@mackjenkins7721 yeah - I’m lucky to have a more regular “big foot” - hopefully your friend can make you a custom pedal. I know you can replace the pedals on my OldTown pretty easy. Have a great week next week!

If you eat butter beans and the fish is bigger then a butter bean then it is a big fish

My choice to start with is a swim bait. I just started with the wacky rig and was impressed with it. A lot of bass kept you busy. Happy belated birthday and tight lines!!
