Good job! I have my ft-891 go box with tuner Built into a bucket. I am making my vhf kit into another matching bucket to sit next to my hf box. I have a 50 ah power queen battery for power to be in a plano box. I have a 6u mobile rack For future project. I have a wood working shop in my basement If I want to make a rack like yours. Suggestion I have a mega-watt 30a computer type power supply.. It is small cheap and no rf hash. It is dead quiet on my ft891!

think you could get it past TSA as a carry on? You'd have to have a smaller LiFePO4 batt, but I'm making a QRP to 50 watt go case and hope to also carry it on for travel.

I don't know if anybody has commented on this but why do you have the radios connected to a power supply versus directly attaching them to the radio? The battery must be a 12v one and the radios operate off of 12v. Using a power supply actually wastes a little power. Plus, definitely swap out the battery with a lithium iron phosphate one. And get rid of the power supply, not needed if running off of 12v. You can always attach a small inverter if need be.
@ke4tin

There are many times where I operate for 24 hours or more (field day, disaster releif, etc. the power supply allows the kit to operate indefinitely with shore power or a generator, where the battery has a limit before it runs out. The solar panels recharge them to a certain extent, but not enough to keep up with HF transmissions or constant use (like field day).

Cool kit ! I would keep power below 10 watts when running that short antenna right at head level 12 inches away. Might end up cooking yourself.

"Hey Look, another dinosaur that knows nothing about new technology and only knows how to make beeping sounds". 😜😂 Welcome to the modern world where simple beeps have been replaced by Digital modes, VOIP, IPs, Satellites, and Internet links, and where transistors have been replaced by software. @@radarwill LOL. Thanks for the Newbie compliment, in my almost 30 years in the hobby and in the field, being an electronics engineer, I've actually had to calculate quite a few. But while I'd love to go back to being a young newbie again, at least I can find comfort in knowing I did not turn into an angry crotchety old man. turning into an angry old man can be very sad. They spend their days out there desperately trying to find people they don't even know and trying to make them as angry as they are. I find them hysterical and sad at the same time. I truly hope folks like that find the peace and self esteem they need to try to enjoy the last little bit they have left of their lonely life. You have yourself a great day sir! 73s and I hope you enjoy the hobby for your remaining years, even if the world has not ended up the way you hoped. Enjoy your paddle, and keep working on those Inductors and Capacitors for your resonance circuits, There aren't too many of us hams still around that build our own stuff and repair our own equipment. It's a shame more "Angry Old Hams" don't channel that energy into becoming elmers and teaching others, rather than being jerks and trying to insult people who they think are new to ham radio and trying (unsuccessfully) to chase them away.
