I have listened to many pigeon fanciers from everywhere about their views on many many topics of the sport and i must say i was greatly impressed with this Painter loft interview and this gentelmans comments.! I agreed with just about everyhing he has mentioned and it is quite clear to me why and how they manage to be so successful in racing pigeons.

Trouble with OLRaces , or at least in my thoughts, is the fact that some birds (bloodlines) don’t show their worth until they are 2 or 3yr olds. Would love to hear your thoughts on this.?

Nice to hear from the successful fanciers who choose to stay more in the background. I do believe that we can start having confidence in our birds and not always think imports are always better. With all the one loft racing I'm sure we have an abundance of the best birds in the world here.

Listening to these two guys i couldnt help but wonder how on earth a beginner will ever be able to obtain the type of birds they are reffering to.! Fact is all novices and beginners are going to pay school fees for a number of years before they will first of all learn how to race pigeons succesfully and secondly to obtain the blood lines that you will need to to compete against the best birds around. Unless you are wealthy and can afford to spend a lot of money on purchasing the best birds the prospects remain quite obscure as to how to go about it. If you look at the facts however there are ways and means of at least obtaining birds that posses the potential to produce topclass racers in the end. It is a fact that all the top flyers in any club or union have most of the best birds allround. Further that it is impossible for them to retain all the racers in their lofts at the end of the race season.! Whether they like it or not they have to make room for the new babies they have bred for the new season. There in lay an oppertunity for newbys to obtain potential good future breeders. It is a fact that the winning genes reside in the blood of champion pigeons. Yet not all the racers bred in the blue will inherit the champion flying gene. Normally one or maybe two siblings off a champion breeding pair may posses that gene while some of the other siblings may indeed not be good racers at all.! Remember that they do and will however also carry that winning gene and the chances are excellent that that gene will surface again somewhere in the future in some of their offspring. By approacing these top fanciers after the racing season with a request to possibly purchase one or two of the siblings of their champion racers even if they did not race very well themselves may offer a means of getting started with potentially good breeders. Learning the basics of what a better than avarage pigeon should handle like will also be off great assistance to atleast recognise what you should be after. Fortunatly most top fanciers will also be very keen for who ever obtained some of their best bloodlines to do well in their own coming racing seasons. So newbies do your homework and start looking at the results to pinpoint the best racers and their owners in your area.!😅
