I am very happy I stumbled across your video! I just bought a Juki cylinder and a binder attachment just like the one you have. Because I don't have instructions for the binder...watching your video was a HUGE help! Thank you for sharing!

You didn't show the before and afters of the bevels. You didn't show/tell me the purpose of whether you are pushing or pulling, This is supposed to be for beginners, or so it says. Not helpful.

I want to make a collar for my cat. But I want to look over the top tough. Maybe a harness with a built in helmet with an eye patch for when he is sitting it looks like he is on century duty. With tons of bling and chains and charms or gold for the birds and insects he killed. But maybe I should start small? The side you didn't glue seemed to buckle. Would you glue it if you had to do it over?

Very nice video production. Have a question about the binding attachment. Do you happen to know where you can pick up one of those?
@rainierleathercompany48583 жыл бұрын
Thank you! It depends on the machine. For my techsew, I needed to get it through them. For a Juki, they seem to be more common/universal (and cheaper). I would just do a google search. Also, if you like the raw edge (like in the video), go with a single fold binder. If you like a finished edge that is rounded in on itself, go with a double fold binder. Hope this helps!

2 Questions. 1) What do you use to seal the leather with the stamp...is it different then if you don't have the foil. 2) Where did you get your custom stamp?
@rainierleathercompany48583 жыл бұрын
1 - I don’t do anything to seal the leather since I buy it all pre-dyed from the tannery and I’ve never had any issues. 2 - I sent the vector file of my logo to leatherstampmaker.com. The owner is a super nice guy and did a great job!

Do you every use Beeswax on the edges?
@rainierleathercompany48583 жыл бұрын
You definitely can, but I typically don’t. I’ve found with working my way up through grits of sandpaper and tokonole, I get a consistent finished edge that holds up

@rainierleathercompany48583 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for the kind words! I believe it was 4 to 5 oz leather in this video. I’d definitely go thicker if it was a dog collar. I use 11/12 oz bridle leather for dog collars
@cagamer41613 жыл бұрын
@@rainierleathercompany4858 oh so for maybe for cats is better to use 4 to 5 oz ?
@rainierleathercompany48583 жыл бұрын
@@cagamer4161 yes, that’s what I found to work, but it really just depends on what you like. A little thicker wouldn’t hurt anything. You can do a quick google search on ‘leather thickness guide’ or something like that and get a good idea of what types of items are made with different weights of leather. Hope this helps!

Great work, I have a sheath that the stitches ripped and its starting to unglue. its right at the very end where you insert the blade. its only about an inch. do I have to do what you did, and completely remove all the stitching , open the whole sheath, re glue and re stitch? or can I just glue it and somehow tie into the original stitching? the sheath overall is in like new condition , its only a few months old. thanks man
@rainierleathercompany48583 жыл бұрын
Hey brother, you could definitely pull all the stitching if you’re worried about uniformity. If you just need to fix a few stitches, I’d just clean up the frayed ends, then restitch the missing section with a saddle stitch. Definitely back stitch a few to lock in the ends of the old thread. I’d only glue it if you’re planning on sanding and burnishing the edge. If you’re not doing that, the threads will do their job and keep the leather together.
