Thank you so much! I have been struggling with a freakish brake bleed malfunction problem. This would seem to explain it all thought I have an older version of the reservoir on a 784. I cant wait to check this out in the morning!

We just hired a guy to put in 1250' of 6 strand barb wire fence. Had some brush, mesquite, etc as it is just unimproved cow pasture. We put double H post on all the high and low spots. The double H assemblies are 24' which includes the kickers on each end. Post are 2 7/8" pipe, 8' tall and in the ground 3'. They are 6' apart with the "h" pipes. The kickers on each end are set 6' out also, with a short pipe set in ground for bracing, all in concrete. Each end of the run has a similar set up for the corners. By setting the H's on high and low spots, we were able to pull fence wires with no problem, and no perceived leverage of wire trying to pull the pipe out of the ground. Also pet Tee post on 10' centers and 2 wire stays inbetween each. Run us about $7,000. Your mileage may vary. ;)

I would assume the terrace was put in for crops. If you are doing only hay or pasture I wouldn’t think you needed them anymore, no erosion with established grass.
@bignatehobbyfarm
@bignatehobbyfarm Жыл бұрын
Yes, when we bought the land it had years old corn residue on it. I worked the terraces for months with an 8' box blade to make them more friendly to a hay rake, but in the end that's a serious amount of dirt to move. Plus you still have to keep it friendly to water run off.

That is some potent fertilizer. We use triple 17. We sprayed Grazon a month before the first cutting. It worked well on the second two weeks ago and so far still good waiting on the third.
@bignatehobbyfarm
@bignatehobbyfarm Жыл бұрын
I thought so too, but I guess the application rate brings down the potency of it, plus Bahia grass can tolerate a higher N application

@bignatehobbyfarm
@bignatehobbyfarm Жыл бұрын
If you have a small tractor with small acreage, it works great. The working width is more like 5'. So if you work more than 5 acres you'll be out there on the tractor for quite a while. I've since upgraded to larger equipment, where are you located? I might sell mine....

Stay away from Summit Hydraulics kits. I ordered one for my John Deere third function. Daul remotes kit came with missing parts. Terrible instructions save your money just go with the dealer part.
@bignatehobbyfarm
@bignatehobbyfarm Жыл бұрын
I've had a really positive experience with this kit so far. I've used it extensively with the grapple on the front of my tractor doing everything from cow hay waste to ripping out privet brush and clearing land. The only issue I've encountered was an O-Ring failing on a hydraulic line connection.

The bale size sensor’s connected to the actuator, or the wires just run parallel in the same loom ?
@bignatehobbyfarm

It's a mechanical bale size sensor linked to the tension arm. It's very rudimentary but reliable. No wires involved.

@@bignatehobbyfarm and it just runs to the buzzer right ?
@bignatehobbyfarm
@bignatehobbyfarm Жыл бұрын
@@jeffjones9727 the buzzer is a simple switch situated on a bracket connected to the right side tension arm. I wired it to a buzzer on my little control box that I fabricated. The original design had no control box and was all just visual gauges and a buzzer built into the baler.

Hey, I know it's been a while since you made this video, but I wanted to see how your fire ant problem was going, if you have had to do it every year or is it every other year thing or..... ? I just bought 2 25lb bags at over $200 each so, it's going to be like spreading gold...lol. Thanks!
@bignatehobbyfarm
@bignatehobbyfarm Жыл бұрын
Yes it is expensive, and I've found out recently that it needs to be used within the season you buy it because it goes bad. Well, not really bad but the effective ingredient that keeps them gone for a long time peters out. I spread some old stuff this spring and it worked for a little bit, but now they've all come back. Normally, if I apply early spring I won't have to apply again until early fall/late summer. So count on 1-2 applications a year.

@@bignatehobbyfarm Ok, wanted to double check... I assume it kills the mounds in the areas you treat but they come back because the surrounding areas are infested? One thing I didn't want is to use something that just drove them out and didn't kill them.
@bignatehobbyfarm
@bignatehobbyfarm Жыл бұрын
@@rogerr1296 so, it's a blanket treatment you apply to your entire property. I don't know why or how they eventually come back, but they do. And it's with a vengeance too, it won't be just a mound here or there near the edges of your property. It's like they come back all within a week and they're all over the place. Just treat again.
