I was 12 when this went to number 1, and all these years later, i'm really glad it went to number 1. Truly nostalgic, more heartwarming today than back in the day, i suppose it may have something to do with that in the years since this was number one i have lost both grandma's and my mother. Maybe you had to be there in 1980 to really appreciate this song today.

With the recent allegations regarding Jay-Z, this episode may not be repeated on BBC4 due to him opening up the show with Hard Knock Life

We all called our Grandma 'Nana' so when this came out you can imagine the confusion. My Nana was 75 when this came out. She didn't have a record player but they did had an old gramophone with a massive horn. Anyway yeah she was amazing, very sweet, small, brightest blue eyes, neat white hair. Like a female version of my Grandad come to think of it. You'd have loved them!

I'll make it 6 comments lol. But post pink income new wave; yes a classic forgotten gem from the eighties, that sadly today is a victim of the bland playlists of radio stations, that play the same bilge over and over again. Could be introduced to a new generation of audiences.

I remember when this song came out (I grew up in the UK) two of my friends and their sisters, and two little girls I babysat for all told me they hated their grandmas and had made up rude words to it, so there were three different sets of nasty words LOL i told my own two lovely grandmas about it, and told them how lucky I was to have two grandmas I did like :) The song was awful though ;)
