Hello, in answer to your question, for the PowerSafe gearbox we recommend UTTO Oil (10W/30) for the standard PowerSafe units, or for the hydrostatic machines a 15W/40 oil.

Is there a way to set the cutting height ? Would be great for making hay in small areas
@tracmasterltd3 ай бұрын
Thanks for your question. The cutting height is determined by the skids which are fixed underneath the cutting deck. There are two sizes of skids available - one gives a cutting height of 45mm high and the other 80mm. You would need to change the skids to alter the cutting height. I hope that helps.

I have been out knocking down thick vegetation with our 85cm Berta flail on the 740 machine again recently. I'm very happy with the results. I didn't feel I could justify the cost of the hydrostatic drive and have developed techniques to avoid issues with running at a fixed speed - mainly by varying the size of the bite into the vegetation I'm taking.

Thank you for your comments Colin. We're delighted that you're please with your flail mower - and the BCS 740 is an ideal power unit for the flail too.

The machines can be a little stiff when they are new, and once they are "bedded in" any stiffness should ease up. We would not recommend making any adjustments at this stage. However, if the problem persists you should contact the supplier of your machine for some advice. I hope that helps.

So I have a 750 diesel apron reciting it instructions said to use gear oil then got the updated bulletin that hytrans should be used should I be doing this Or should I get away with flushing with diesel ?.
@tracmasterltd2 жыл бұрын
Hi Bruce. We recommend using either 80W/90 GL5 oil or a universal tractor oil - both are equally suitable for the PowerSafe units. Diesel should never be used in the gearbox.

@@tracmasterltd Many thanks indeed for the reply. I have subscribed and look forward to any new videos you make. I wonder if you could help me regarding the preferred transmission oil when I come to replace it. I have seen instructions suggesting the use of a GL5 85W/90 hypoid gear oil but also have a copy of BCS service bulletin 2-22-2016 that suggests, for PowerSafe clutch equipped models, a whole list of possible lubricants all of which are Universal Tractor Transmission oils such as John Deere JDM J 20C. Can you please tell me what you would use.

Terrible use if the buck rake. It's a very good tool for the BCS, HOWEVER it has its limitations. Good for pushing into a pile. Bad for turning and picking up. ...so use straight movement and don't push stuff to the hedge. Stop early, and use a hand rake to bring the hay etc to that pile whilst you reposition your BCS BEHIND your pile and take it out that way. Good for pushing large lumps into a pile. Bad if laden with the weight to one side and you have to raise the rake. ...even it out with a hand rake. 👍

What are the indications that the clutch needs to be serviced? Typically how many hours of use will it be before the clutch needs to be serviced? Does the need for servicing become necessary More Often by operator error? Is the Locking pin the only part that needs to be replaced or is it reused?
@tracmasterltd2 жыл бұрын
Hi Dave. Thanks for your question. The most important thing with the PowerSafe clutch is to keep on top of your filter and oil changes. This normally prevents you from having to take the clutch apart to clean it. Typically, oil changes should be done once a year or every 100 hours (whichever is soonest). You would only really need to take the clutch apart to clean it if after doing your service, you still had reduced performance. I hope that helps.

We are giving this combination some serious consideration to tackle areas where we have planted trees and we can't get a MF 35x and topper in anymore. However, we wonder whether my wife, who is only small, will be able to cope with the weight. For example, how much weight do you need to put onto the handles to lift the flail clear of the ground where that is needed. Is this a machine that can be used in heavy undergrowth with 'fingertip' control or does it require serious muscle - we are both getting on a bit 8-)==
@ColinMill12 жыл бұрын
Just to answer my own question, having just taken delivery of an electric start 740 petrol with the 85cm flail fitted via a quick connector, it takes 40kg of down-force on the handles to lift the flail clear of the ground. This is OK for me but too much for my wife. However we have ordered the optional 15kg weight kit that should reduce this to about 25kg which is more manageable. The brake cables have some fairly strong return springs that make the operation of the differential brakes somewhat harder than needs be and I plan to fit some lower rate springs to ease this problem as well as add stops to reduce the brake lever gape to something small hands can manage more easily.
