It was so satisfying to beat our rival Spain but I actually felt sorry for some of them like (spelling?) Llulle. I have massive respect for the Spanish team and this was a shadow of their former self
@mikethomas48424 сағат бұрын
It was a well deserved win especially given how well they started. Had some anxious moments , but kept up the pace. Lots of errors that need addressing. Fouls,turn overs and panick shots . We wont get away with that later in the tournament. Well drilled teams will make us pay.

Josh Green was very good as an isolation defender tonight. Really wish Kyle gave him more credit instead of writing it off.
@HK-jz5sz5 сағат бұрын
Yeah he definitely added a bit of spark. Got 2 very important offensive rebounds from hustle that I thought helped turn things back towards the boomers
@che4985 сағат бұрын
@@HK-jz5szYes but I mean crediting him for his defense specifically. He stuck with his man, and I didn’t see any of the individuals he was responsible for guarding score a bunch of points, he largely contained them. They even stuck Josh on Llul after he had just scored a couple of 3s, and I didn’t see him make anything afterwards. Green was one of their best defenders tonight, without question.

depend on whether or not the Canadian team can isolate and smother the Australian guard (Mills + Giddley) They did a very good job in todays game against Greece.

One thing you guys aren't considering....some players are heart & soul, 'culture' players within a club & regardless of on-field form fluctuations, they are UNTRADEABLE. Brayden Maynard & Jack Crisp are absolutely in that category.

We cant lose a game. Dante is going to miss 2 games at least. Why not, replace him with Matisse...I don't trust Delly playin 15-20 mins against Canada or Spain. Off the bench, play Ingles at the One and if we had Matisse he'll be our wing.

Exum is awesome, no doubt he should be part of the team and he would have made a big impact, but a compound dislocation is not just a matter of popping it back into place and it'll be fine in a few days. The chances of him being able to play, even later in the tournament are very, very slim. Why not take the opportunity to replace him while you still can with someone else that can make an impact (you know who), like the Opals have done with Bec Allen?

Not really watched Magnay before the pre-olympic matches but he has performed well. Josh Green can have a real impact as his NBA teams limited what he might have been able to bring. Like Duop Reath. I really rate his ability.

Did you know: the Tasmania JackJumpers tie the Los Angeles Lakers for the most club team players active in the 2024 Olympics (3 a piece). This just occurred to me yesterday thinking about Deng playing for South Sudan on top of the two AUssies so I looked it up and lo and behold it was true!
@jumbokevin2 күн бұрын
Not true. I'm not a stats guy but off the top of my head I can already think of Olympiacos who has at least five players for Greece and Serbia. Also Crvena Zvezda in Serbia and the same probably applies for the smaller nations where all their players probably come from the one big team in their league

Something to think about that I didn't realise before with the team selection. In FIBA, because the rules are different to NBA, the value of players changes. It can go up, and it also can go down. Especially for bigs, taking Magnay makes total sense now, because in FIBA there is no defensive 3-second violation. So because of that, if you are taking a big, you take the biggest-guy you can get. Take a look at all the top 5-6 teams, all of them have very, very big dudes plugging up the key. Team USA took Embid, because he is a big body. Guys like Magnay are actually important because there will be matches we need a really solid 5 to defend against opposing bigs, and also to block shots and defend the rim. Which also explains who Duop was selected too. Not a great defensive player, but long and can block shots close to paint. Really important in FIBA. Plus, he can shoot 3s, so will draw out opposing bigs.

I’m sorry but not selecting Matisse no one will ever understand because we didn’t select our best defender, and one of the best in the world. He’s long and athletic, Dyson is great but a little smaller and 2 is better than 1. Goulding and cooks aren’t in this best team imo

Yes. If it wasnt he'd be playing. They took a back up big , but no contingency for a key wing . This is why Matisse shouldve gone.

Nah Pop ruined him. Could have been a star and should have got more minutes.. as a kid I didn't understand this and thought NBA was just that much better than NBL. In hindsight I was very wrong and realise that Gaze really should have got a lot more playing time - he would have been a much bigger player over there than he was if that happened.

Another weakness of the US, is that the team is stacked with millionaires who don't want to risk injury for a medal. These blokes will try to preserve themselves for the big show. Their talent is through the roof, but there will be brakes on their physicality and grit.

Their path to winning the world cup wasn`t easy, still they won all games. Thanks for giving us some flowers:) Since i was a huge Bulls fan through the 90s, i loved seeing Luc Longley getting his flowers by that fantastic doc australian TV put together after the last dance. Must watch, i`ve seen it at least 4-5 times till it came out.. GO Germany:)!
