We have a modest boat and fish not too far from the ramp. We meet people with a flash boat that goes for miles and burns $100 of gas and catches less than us. Hehehe

I'm outdoorsy but I'm much better at small game hunting than fishing. I'm a poorly performing fisherman and I'm working on it. I only have decent luck deep in the wilderness in lakes with pistol pete flies. I once watched a guy who claimed to pull up to 30 trout in an hour off this. Mark Baca. I thought he was exaggerating cause people do but I timed him. I swear that almost every cast was a hook. He caught 27 trout at monastery lake in Pecos,NM. He had to keep throwing trout back because I believe at the time it was a limit of 5. All this in an hour. Our politics were way too different though to be friends. Btw that was all in one hour!! I remember driving back to his place to fry the fish and all the while I was in a surreal state marveling at the phenomenon I just witnessed. People at the lake were in AWE! He got alot of hate. Some guy was saying he should leave fish for the kids but at any time he only had 5 in the stringer basket .He used the larger green pistol petes with a mealworm in the hook on the leader and an eagle claw bubble he filled with water on the main line. It was the mid size one and he filled it all the way. I'm trying to learn jigs, softbaits, spoons,spinners etc. because what if you don't have pistol petes?! My specialty is navigation. I'm a master there especially celestial navigation

Living in Southeast Georgia where we have plenty of alligators and water moccasins, these are a no go.

I have the exact same set up I find with the cheap Amazon leaders if you cut off about a foot and tie on a tippet line it’s alot better and with the rear take it a part and put one small drop of gear or reel oil on the bearings runs a lil bit smoother .. but I hated the fly line so to still be cheap but work great I got the goture master weight forward WF3F as I line to fish a bit lighter mainline cos it cast a little bit better. But setting it up like that I find it fishes just as good as my Orvis Encouter which is still a cheaper rod but like $500-$600 set up in Australia. I can’t really tell the difference between them when fishing other then orvis obviously has a slightly faster action. But this rod in your video can be a great rod with a few fine tunes and still stay under $150 American ($300ish Australian)

Dont forget your boats navigation lights. Stick in the white pole light, the more light the better

I bought the same deal off Temu, just a different rod, everything else the same. For my first fly outfit I am extremely happy. Reel quality is excellent. I was so impressed with the reel I purchased a couple of spinning reels from the same manufacturer for salt water fishing and they are also excellent for a fraction of the price of big brand name reels.

Great job. I just picked up one of these JD balast boxes at a yard sale for $50 AUD (about $34 USD). Looked up the price on line and they are over $1000 AUD to buy new. Bargain!

Add one the same, fixed it up then sold it butt was cool to have.

I like a fly reel on a spin rod combo. 5.5' Eagle Claw Crafted Glass, #3 fly line. A short fly rod is less work.

Thank you for the ideas. For reversing at night… I upgraded my reverse lights to LED that have a rearward beam… as well as my truck bed lights. They don’t work in drive but will work in reverse on my truck. Helps in the woods and with the RV/or horse trailer as well.

After maiming several trout in 3 days and 1 bass death I'm never using trebles again unless barbs flattened. Even then only until I get the supplies to remove the trebles. Its just to hard to remove a 3 prong deep throat hook attach at 3 points all while fighting barbs. Also not convinced trebles hold a fish better as I lost 2 trout yesterday that either would be personal best.

This does not stop wobble of trolling motor side to side. Up and down is not as bad as a wobble which will Woller out the motor pivot pin holes and become loose. If you rock the motor head side to side you will see what a side swell will do when slap the side of your boat in rough water and this device being shown becomes loose from the boat. Protecting the head is only one issue. I have solved both issues. Stabilized in all positions and will fit to any boat.
