The model 79 is usually a cardboard book player, never seen that model using paper rolls before.

Thanks for your question. I think it has been given the "Model 79" simply because it uses a 41 note keyless spool frame. This instrument even has 24 violins instead of the usual 22!! In regards to the duplex roll instead of books is also a mystery. Back in 1985-95 I restored all of the Paddy Conklin's "Conklin & Garret Shows" fair organs. around 8 or 10 in all (of various makes) and they were all fitted with this same duplex roll system that was installed by Heimlich Voigt Frankfurt on Main. I believe. Conklin purchased all of his fair organs at the showman's meet in Frankfurt back in the 1950's including his 112 keyless Karl Frei Concert which is now with the Seewen Museum in Switzerland and just freshly restored in 2023. I have some great articles and videos of this instrument on my web site home page if you just scroll down away to the Memories of Conklin Shows :-)). Please let me know if you find any new info on De Twee Zwarte Grieten. I found it at Denny Debee's in Belgium along with a super Mortier in original paint!! both are now with a Canadian collector and the 2 girls are going home tomorrow. Ron S www.nickelodeonco.com

You're welcome, I'm surprised a lot of the other organ nuts didn't get it before or until now. Farily common tune and roll (13173) on 150. I'm almost certain that is 13173 because it's a longer roll and the other roll it appears first on is a short roll with like 3 tunes on it.

We used one of the customers player pianos as the base instrument for this custom built style o orchestrion. The Giulietti accordion was their sons who I guess didn't practice enough :-)) We built 25+ of these tall case orchestrions 1980-1995 most went to commercial locations but several went to regular folks. I have had 2 come in for go overs this year!!. Thanks for your comments Ron S

Great!🎉 One question. In the digital music, the latency in the digital signal processing between the controler and the each instruments is the basic adjusting point only thirty years ago. While I see your vid this wulitzer must have the same adusting points on the hardware level. Isn't it hard to make adjustments so that all instruments sound at the same timing? Each path to the instrument is different. Do you have buffering control point to adjust the rag in it? In digital world, DAW does it lately, or user do it on the track level, or at the worst on note level, moving back and forth on tracks or notes tick. But this instrument's data is already fixed, cannot modify on the note level. It must be somewhere on the hardware.

Hello and thank you for your comments. To play an instrument such as this band organ by computer MIDI we are simply using the usual positions in midi as switches to turn things on and off. such as the various pipes, and drums etc. I wish I could give you more details but I am sure you will soon see how it works when you research the MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) thanks Ron

@@ronaldschmuck9627 Ron, thank you for your replay. I use MIDI for almost fourty years from its start, so I know it well. My question is "how does your wulitz keep the timing?" I can see the notes on the sheet on line. And the sound I hear is good for timing. But the mechanism to each instruments are different. So It seems that each instrument is out of sync with each other. I apologize for taking your time.

Hi there, I love your videos. They are gorgeous after you finish with them. my grandmother always had a Canary in her kitchen as well, and automate singing bird. She would not let me let me Wind it or even touch it lol. When my husband and I were visiting NYC 8 years ago, we found one, the sing was perfect, its tones of dust and faded glory. Question: what type of paint would I use on the cage to restore it?? (I restore vintage costume jewelry) Which is stripping the old glue and paint to the base metal, painting and finishing, resulting the stones/Crystals etc.

Thank you for your comments, Often the cages are made of brass so just strip off the old lacquer sealer and polish with fine steel wool then reseal, otherwise any good metal paint (gold or brass color) should give you a good result. Ron

Thank you for your email. I did the restoration on the Wurlitzer style 147 Military band organ in 2022. Here is a little progress report for the owner of the instrument who is Ballinran Entertainment in Stratford Ont. Canada. www.nickelodeonco.com/ct-wurl-147.html These instruments must have every inch of both pressure and vacuum the original builders intended so nothing can be left to chance and after over 100 years every inch of wood and leather must be treated and sealed. We always seal the leather and even the pneumatic cloth to be absolutely sure they are airtight under pressure and the extra work has always paid off over the past 45 years in this business. Many Thanks Ron S www.nickelodeonco.com
