The only bad thing you can say Hades did was kidnap Persephone, but even that is contested as there are other versions of the story that paint him as a man rescuing his love from an abusive and controlling mother. In some versions Hades and Persephone met at the mouth of a cave and started talking and visiting each other before the two fell in love with each other. Then when Demeter threatened to kill all of humanity Persephone ate the forbidden food of the underworld as so she would have to return to the Underworld which got her away from her mother.

Also remembering that at the time this kidnapping was normal, this was how men got married, at the time it was not considered a crime but rather a form of arranged marriage. There are several versions of this story, some say that Persephone wanted to be with Hades, others that she didn't, but in all the ones I've seen they say that Hades was always faithful to her and never had another woman. Thanks for the comment, it helps the channel grow!!

@@Ancient_Lore There is the story of Minthe, but what people forget is that the nymph transformed herself to look like Persephone to trick Hades into sleeping with her. So he didn't knowingly cheat, and probably didn't realize until his wife came home with a new plant.

Exactly! While Zeus and Poseidon were busy messing around, Hades stayed loyal to Persephone. Gotta respect that! 💀

They were initially different, but when the culture and mythology of Greece entered the Roman Empire they became the same. Thanks for the comment! "Ares' nearest counterpart in Roman religion is Mars, who was given a more important and dignified place in ancient Roman religion as ancestral protector of the Roman people and state. During the Hellenization of Latin literature, the myths of Ares were reinterpreted by Roman writers under the name of Mars, and in later Western art and literature, the mythology of the two figures became virtually indistinguishable." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ares#:~:text=During%20the%20Hellenization%20of%20Latin,two%20figures%20became%20virtually%20indistinguishable.
