That's amazing from a 2 day old foal. Secretariat off spring. Isn't Flightline also a dependent of Secretariat? I watched that horse run and he reminded me of Big Red. His way of running, his quietness, I've watched it over and over again.

I am so disgusted by trainers ! Ive worked around horses for 29 years . Ive worked at racetracks , harness barns , race barns and dressage barns . I have been thrown out of racetracks for keeping a trainer from beating a colt or a filly with a 2x4 ! Ive watched trainers inject cocaine and testosterone into a horses throat bones . Ive seen them beaten , tied , whipped and madw to swim until near death . Trainers are the worst humans on this earth ! Grooms cone in a solid second !

Horse racing is horrific animal abuse and everyone involved should be harshly punished.

I know that the video's really old, but like, somebody should've taken off the halters for real. The chance of a horse getting caught in something because of a halter is a great risk. Foals have died because a halter was left on them, same for older horses. If you're scared that you can't catch the horse, they probably don't trust or respect you much. But I will admit that the foal was very cute, and his mom also. Oh, and what's his name? :3

ME GIRL IS A APPALOOSA BUT SHE IS SECRETARIAT GRAND DAUGHTER . SHE IS ONLY 11 YEARS . I HAD HER DNA TESTED . SO I GOT A WEE PIECE OF BIG RED . SAME NAME HIS GRAND SIRE MAN O WAR HAD TOO .

They just keep doing the same things over and over….abusing these horses, killing them and go get another one. It’s tragic and heartless what they do to these babies.

Why did they have to put him down? I saw one of Secretariat's grandson in a boarding stall in KY. He was a big horse and was a dark roan. He was old and may have died soon after. The tag on his door just said Secretariate's grandson. Secretariat was my all time favorite horse. I watched live as he won the Triple Crown in 1973. I bought a full blooded Arabian in 1992. She was pregnant. The foal was male, roan color with a star slip and a snip on his face and had stockinged feet and legs the exact same as Secretariate! I couldn't believe it!

This was such a sad story (I had learned of this colt several years ago) that I couldn’t watch this. I appreciate knowing about this special colt.

Secretariet was a good stud as far as producing mares. And his mares produced good stallions like storm cat so his lineage went on through the female side. What’s the difference, they are 50% his genes. But nobody, not even him could give us another him. God gave us him, and he sent him via bold ruler and something royal.

I’m sorry to say this, but what happened to Johnny Leroy is really the dark underside of horse racing. Many, many horses are fatally injured each year while training for or running a race. It’s very sad, and I’ve stopped watching the Triple Crown races, as thrilling as they are, because I don’t know how the horses are treated, if they are drugged, if they have a fracture or some other reason that should be disqualifying. Basically, the physiology of race horses is too fragile for what they are being asked to do. Note the many leg/ankle injuries. It might be different if they could be treated for these injuries, but they can’t, so the only option is to kill them. Immediately. Because that is what is happening, despite the distant, unemotional word, euthanized.
