is it recommend to prune in winter ?
@thebonsaiarea25 күн бұрын
This type of pruning is possible, but I would prune very large branches in the summer so that the tree can recover.

that is a wonderful looking old maple bonsai. The pot you paired with it is a fantastic match! How long have you been developing the maple for and is it a regular green Acer P.? The structure on it is great, excellent branch positioning! Thanks for sharing this amazing maple in an equally amazing bonsai pot! Keep up the great work, friend

On a weak pine like this I would suggest not cutting vigorous growing tips in the fall but in late winter/early spring right before the buds start swelling. This gives the tree more time to accumulate energy during the fall and winter which are stored in the roots. Pines dont fully hibernate during the winter and will photosynthesise when temps are warm enough (42*f or higher). So they are still creating energy even in winter. Your tree will have more energy to flush out in spring this way.

if you look carefully the button for next year is already there and at the end of autumn you can safely do this work I have not done anything to this tree for 2 years so I am sure it will be fine and I will show you next year that it is healthy

That's a beautiful maple! I have a multi-trunk arakawa that's years behind yours, but it's off to a great start! Do you use any kind of winter wash? I've been looking for something to clean up deciduous trees with before winter. Yours are so clean!
@thebonsaiareaАй бұрын
Yes thank you, Arakawa is beautiful I have one too! I use lime sulver diluted with water 1/40 I spray in November and in January, but if you have wired trees I would spray later because of the wiring your bark is open. thanks for visiting channel
