I had the Tron Game. I spent hours playing that thing.

This brings back some nostalgic memories. I had Drive Yourself Crazy, but Digital Derby was a favorite. I had another one which was a side scrolling dirt bike game, where you jumped over obstacles and had to land or you’d crash. I forget the name. Do you know of this one?

The graphics are far superior to Atari or Intellivision. And better sounds, too. In an alternate universe, this would have been THE game system.

Hello and thanks for all your videos! I find them very interesting and entertaining. They certainly bring back a ton of memories from the good old days! I recently watched a video called, “What coding was like 40 years ago”, from a channel called The Coding Train which details how to write a snake style game on an Apple II +. After hours and hours nearly pulling my hair out, I finally learned that AppleSoft basic and commodore basic are not exactly the same. I am stumped by the fact that there is no commodore equivalent for the Htab and Vtab commands in AppleSoft basic. These commands occur throughout the code several times and I would be eternally grateful if you or someone in the comments could provide the commodore basic equivalent to the Htab and Vtab commands. I’m a perfect world, I would love for you to watch that video and then come up with a snake game on Commodore 64 basic which is written in basic not assembly. My many thanks for your time reading this. Looking forward to your next video. Take care. I think this would be a great way to teach the kids about programming. regarding making a snake style game

I'm 53. My family had everyone one of these games. My favorite, by far, was digital derby. Even after we got an Atari, I'd still play that when I had down time. The problem was always that C batteries were always hard to find....C batteries are like the step-child of batteries, lol.

It is strange that the last digits of pi are wrong on 2m42s. I checked this program v9 on VICE (x64sc and xscpu64) and got the correct result - the last digits are 3185. The timings are also unusual. VICE (x64sc) for 800 digits shows 212.38s, (xscpu64) - 9.7s. What hardware was used?

I totally remember Digital Derby. That one was still in a lot of households in the mid to late 80s, usually a hand-me-down from someone’s older brother.

Folks had a red dot basketball game, a red dot football game, and a red dot battlestar galactica game. That one was just shoot down cylon potshots coming for your battlestar.

I still have that Digital Derby game, which was a Christmas Present back in 1981. and it still works like a charm. I also had the Drive Yourself Crazy Game, but the cover over the screen cracked even though it still worked. The Strolling Bowling I happen to give to my niece and she still has it even though I thought something broke on it.

You could totally play that bowling game with one of those wind up Easter chicks, it would be funny watching a chick knock down the pins.

You know what would've been cool like one of these games? A game that controls like an etch a sketch, but instead of drawing, you guide a little guy or a mouse around a maze.
