I really like the sound of the Philips cartridges. The 412 is really good as well and the 422 is as good as any moving magnet cart I have heard including the Grace f-9

These old top of the line Audio-Technica cartridges had low inductance generators, they have a very nice open sound, I prefer them to the new ATs

@TuTorials17 Apparently it does. Unlike in those Japanese "S" shaped medium to high mass tonearms.

I’d say he did a wonderful review! Subscribed to Phono direct. As to it not having Audiophile components nothing could be further than the truth. .1 percent components. Japanese parts, and the ability to upgrade an op-amp. There’s too much “snobbery” today that’s been promoted by expensive manufacturers that push “brand recognition” down audiophiles throats. There’s another site you should see that rates an extensive collection of phono preamps by test equipment. You might be shocked at how well a two hundred phono preamp does against a so called 2 grand “audiophile” one. This FOSI seems to represent exceptional value. My one criticism is there is no mention of a rumble filter, although some preamps have them and cannot be switched off and on. Again, I love the reviewers style and frank honesty! Cudos and thanks for the review.

The AT12XE was the first phono cartridge I bought myself. I was 13! Not a bad cart, but the Shure M95ED a friend set me up with was better.

good punch, rock solid sound stage and textured vocal, nicely put out of the mix. Tesla VM 2101 is ideal for rock and live (jazz etc.) music 👍👋👋👋

Interesting, I have a cadenza Black fitted to my SME IV tonearm and when I play my 1971 first pressing of stairway to heaven at the start of the song the guitar only comes out of the left speaker until the flute starts which only comes out of the right speaker. then the vocals and everything else kicks in from both speakers. On this recording you can hear, albeit very quietly, the guitar at the start coming out of the right speaker as well as the left. It also sounds a tad bright and light on the mids with no emotion, I can only assume it must be the difference between the original and remastered versions and the fact you are not using speakers.
