My dad hung 4 Bose 901s from the ceiling in our den for this.......talk about nice! I have a Sansui G-6000 he gave me because he said it had a bad channel. Turns out, he had a bad speaker wire and nothing else! Talk about an easy fix! That bad boy is still crankin' btw! This SX-828 is my favorite sounding Pioneer....the only downsides to it imo are the speaker plugs(really minor actually) and the constant turning of the control knob to the A+B to power 2 sets of speakers. Sound-wise, it's the warmest receiver i've ever had....love ya Dad!!

SL-10, love it. You can roll cartridges like tubes since it's p mount. And finding nice p mount cartridges is fun. They don't really make them anymore, so it's about figuring out how to locate one and then possibly upgrade the stylus. I bought an entire table off of eBay just to get my AT152LP cart. Then sold table and stylus. Net cost of cart .. $20. Stylus was another story though!

Yes! Stop Making Sense, recorded on a BX-1. That deck punches so far above its weight. Hot take: there's much more difference between an average 2 head deck and a BX-1 than a BX-1 and a Dragon.
@burntwaffle17436 ай бұрын
I like the BX two more. The digital counter matches the rest of the deck better. Also nice find with the denon! Sometimes it is just a simple fix.
@SoloBueno16 ай бұрын
Thanks! Agree about digital counters. Makes the BX-300 so "future 80s". The funny thing about the Denon is I promptly removed the belt after fixing it so my son can play with it- I have it hooked up to a $25 pair of Minimus 7s. No problem there, but if the tray actually ejected I'm sure that would have broken off by now. He's 2 and I'm trying to introduce him to stereo stuff in a controlled way.

I miss mine. I got mine back in February of 19 83. I chose this deck over the cost of 1 oz of gold. At the time the BX1 was going for 235 and that matched 1 oz of gold. It was a beautiful thing but unfortunately one of the weaknesses had to do with the frequency generator captain motor that had a tendency to waiver. After a while I had to have that motor replaced which corrected that problem for a bit but then it did the same thing. So eventually I had to abandon my BX1 and move over to more inferior decks. I would play or sorry I would record without that will be so they wouldn't be mistracking because nobody else paid attention to record playback tracking linearity like nakamichi dead. So it was best to record without any dome on whatsoever and that's how I did. I miss it. I'm glad that it had existed to set the bar for a state of the art budget 2 head cassette deck.

I really need your assistance. I have an AKAI GX 286. The power suddenly went out and I have located the fuse location on the deck. However, getting access to replace the fuse is tricky. It requires moving wires and cables that look like they could break off if moved. I need to find a way to safely access the fuse to replace. Do I need to disassemble the entire deck to do so? All help much appreciated. Thank you
@SoloBueno110 ай бұрын
Few things 1. I do not know anything about fixing this machine. Locate the service manual on hifiengine.com or possibly by just googling Akai GX 286 Service manual. 2. A fuse blowing normally signals that something is wrong. Odds are you replace the fuse and then it blows again. 3. If you need more slack to move wires, it is fine to cut the zip ties that bundle them together. Just be careful. This is once you get inside. Good luck!

Champagne and engraved are one in the same. You don't get one without the other. So, it's not an added bonus if one is engraved AND champagne. Thees were prototype versions. Regular production was silver face, no engraving.

Also, there were a few silver faced engraved within the champagne engraved run. These are even more rare than the champagne. This is not to be confused with the regular silver faced silkscreen ones.

The left works- balance and volume are on the same knob, so when I went to shift the balance to the left, I accidentally lowered the volume as well. It's hard to change balance without temporarily changing volume too on these unless you're being really careful. I don't have this anymore though.

Have the speakers for about 30 years now, running flawlessly, neat sub with dual! voice coils, each 4 Ohms, so the Amp sees 8 Ohms load in sum. Back then there was not much that could beat them. Not really. To get the real thump out of it you need a high current amplifier. It's absolutely mandatory, you need a powerful class a/b Amp which is capable to deliver high current. At least 75 Amps in short transients, 2 x 100 or 2 x 120 W/channel. Then the sub becomes an absolut beast. Positioning the sub is also very important.
