At least they should make the tyre barrier TALLER there 0:28. It's still the same now in 2023. Tyre barrier too short, car nearly into the crowd. Keep those crashes & car parts INSIDE the circuit.

These types of accidents are extremely traumatic for a pilot. There is nothing wrong but your car is suddenly breaks inside of the corner. Damn...
@MotorsportUK2009 Жыл бұрын
This what puts me off big circuit racing, the technical failure scares me more than the racing incidents because of the complete lack of control and any big hit above 100mph your gone, whereas in go karts the slower speeds make the fatal accident less likely imo.

That crash nearly severed his right index finger completely from a piece of carbon fiber cutting across his knuckles. It was the reason he always used his right hand to show the "Number 1" during his celebrations, to show that he still had full use and mobility of it.

@@carlostapia3090 yes, this is a true story. this is exactly that crash. and he showed once his finger after some race win meaning “this is what it takes, see” and after that started to show every time he wins. he told this story himself quite a while

Once again, most dangerous track section in racing. Flat out, top of a rise, car is light and unhappy, walls are way too close.
@unfortunately_fortunate20002 жыл бұрын
I disagree this particular part of sector 1 actually seems like one of the safer ones & over the last 2 decades I think history mostly supports that, there are the outlier crashes but ALL the big ones going through Eau Rouge Radillion havent been fatal (in f1 at least many other series also come here and the further away from f1 speed you get and the more and more closed your cockpit is you're much safer) sector 2, though, recently has killed someone and given the speeds involved & how sector 2 flows makes any potential crash damn near fatal. there isnt much that can be done to spa to push the walls out further & I dont know that it'd be worth it tbh. when I think of crashes happening at spa for whatever reason I can much more easily remember them happening all over the second sector, or going into T1 on race starts, I forget who but at the 2016 belgium GP a renault went off at the top of radillion essentially straight off into the tyre wall, that and the impact barrier behind those tyre were the only thing that stopped that crash from being fatal. idk that a wider spa would be a safer spa & as far as proximity to walls and barriers, Hungary & Monza can be quite similar to Spa and Monza especially has long since shaken its reputation for being dangerously lethal.

whats most interesting is that marshal post is no longer there as far as I can tell, that car must've come a couple feet from wiping that marshal off this planet & after britt car this last season... yikes.
