Great transformation. It's always amazing what a good valeter can do to restore heavily scratched paintwork that looks like it will need a respray.

Hello from Australia! Super interesting video! I would love to hear how that car went when you fixed it and if it turned out as you expected (just a chain and a couple of other things). Also, would be interesting if you do sell it to hear if you made any profit overall etc? I enjoy car vids like this as dad was a mechanic and taught me stuff which has enabled me to keep my own cars in check (not like you though! I would not try rebuilds or taking all the hoses off etc haha.

Hey Bryan, thanks for the comment and I am glad you enjoyed the video! Frustratingly I didn’t record the preparation process but we replaced the timing chain and a boost pipe which had a split - the car is now up for sale 😁 I have a Mini Cooper video coming up soon which is similar to this one but also includes the prep process, I hope you enjoy that one too. Alex

@@AlexThomas_CC Thanks heaps Alex! That's so cool you you 'only' needed to replace those two or so items. Seems you picked really well. Would love to know if you did alright on it (don't want to know how much as that is personal) when it sells. Super excited for the Mini Vid!. Keep up the good work

The early Navara's had chassis corrosion issues whereby the chassis would go just behind the cab, several pics on the web of them broken in half. They're a good workhorse if sorted though.

I don't know what happened to Nissan. They made really tough reliable cars and trucks in 70s to early 2000s. I can't understand why they start getting these problems, problems with engines transmission etc. I grew up on Nissan pickup. Nissan is like family and home to me. Hope they start getting better in quality similar to toyota

We had a similar problem with an Octavia where we had a mechatronic reconditioned but to no avail. Eventually had to buy a new unit from TPS which solved the issue as I believe they’re coded. It was non refundable and at a cost of over £1200 quite a risk to take. Hope yours is a simple fix.

Top quality for the first video Alex, well done. Can't help with the mechanic side as I am not a mechanic, and despite not being a youtuber either I will fire a couple of suggestions: when turning the car on after putting stuff together or when trying something after a build up to it, turn the music off and let us listen to the engine or any other noises, also, when you get to test, open or uncover something, "take us" you with, show us the error codes and the confirmation the car won't go into gear as if we were there with you peaking over your shoulder also getting your reaction first hand, that builds the relationship between you and the audience (I understand in this case you were super frustrated and the last thing you wanted was the hassle of filming it).
