Meredith, your set at Royal Oak, MI was great! In the lobby afterwards, I was the weirdo who shouted in your face, "You're like Craig's left hand!" before being swept away by the crowd. What I meant was "you and Craig playing guitar together sounds like one grand old piano, and your accompaniment has always pinned the rhythm and bass down so well". Not to take away from your solo material, but your two-guitar rags have always been my favorite! This is what your music means to me: I don't like crowds. I rarely brave them anymore, but when I saw that one of my heroes was playing only a few hours away, I figured I could put on a brave face and go to the city. When you opened with your biggie, "Death is Only a Dream", I was suddenly standing over my grandmother's coffin in a Fort Wayne funeral parlor as a younger man and, in a standing-room-only crowd, surrounded by strangers, I began to weep and shudder like a child at the strange power of music. I'm happy for your good fortune to tour with Sierra. She's one of the best right now. Write your new stuff with your new friends (it's you, after all) but don't forget the old. I had great fun playing in a cup of jam sessions with with Eric & Suzy at Earl White's Fiddler's Jam in Floyd, Virginia, this summer, a half hour from my house. It would be amazing to have all of you in Floyd next year!

So excited to see you live. You are going to do great! Here is an idea, Craig sits by us in Grand Rapids then just kind of wanders up on stage and the two of you play a couple of tunes together, after which he nonchalantly walks off and sits back in the crowd.

If you leave tinfoil on the burrito and start eating outside and a sudden thunderstorm arises, you are more likely to get struck by lightning, so the proposed legislation is only following "the Science" for the safety of all by deterring that practice through beneficial regulation, yes?
