I love history like this. I have recently acquired a SM330 Muncie 3 Speed and actually found a kit to rebuild. However, I can't find any videos of one being rebuilt. Just curious if the rebuild is similar to a Muncie 4 speed or more like a Saginaw 3 speed?

For every inch height you take off the spring you will lower it 2 inches. Isn't it easier to take the lower A-arm off the frame so you don't have to mess with the ball joint?
@MarkMeldrumChevelleHunters
@MarkMeldrumChevelleHunters 21 күн бұрын
Thanks for the comment, I didn't think so because everything neatly pivots out of the way for spring extraction and everything is easy to see and handle because it's on top and in plane sight. With the frame and a-arms powder coated and compressed back together, it would be pretty tough to deal with the a-arm on the frame side.

Does this car have the " '66 Chevelle interior smell"? I found out from Fred Willy that it's from mold on the paper of the side panels.
@MarkMeldrumChevelleHunters
@MarkMeldrumChevelleHunters Ай бұрын
I love that special 66 Chevelle smell but this car had been completely restored so no 66 smell :). Actually the smell reminds me of when I worked in the aircraft industry as an engineer. The preservative oil we would put in the pumps smelled just like the 66 smell, it was not mold. I believe GM used the same oil on some parts that probably got absorbed into side panels and fabric.

Good Day sir, my engine temp goes up to 95 -100 degree celcius, i was told this is not normal. i am driving a 2013 VW Beetle 1.2 tsi. my workshop told me that the BIG fan has high speed and lower speed, and apparently mine only had one which is not normal. is this true? and if i change, can i change the big fan only without interrupting the smaller fan? thank you.
@MarkMeldrumChevelleHunters
@MarkMeldrumChevelleHunters Ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment, I am not a trained VW mechanic. I am just a guy working out in the garage on my cars. In my opinion I would change the whole assembly (both fans) to save the labor of doing it twice when the other fan fails since they are both the same age. the cost is not much more for the assembly and labor would be the same. As far as temp for your engine - I would consult with a mechanic, it does seem high but there are many things that could cause that... thermostat, coolant pump, debris in front of radiator, and yes the fans.

What if the pressure is reading over 100? Is that bad or good? Should I get it to 500-545g with R134a?
@MarkMeldrumChevelleHunters

That's bad - it's been two years and I remember overfilling the system (60 PSIG) while making this video and the A/C did not work as good. BTW - I have not touched the system since I refilled it two years ago.
