All of the money has left skating and it’s not coming back to the core market. There will be corporate holdings that will continue the industry as long as they keep it in the olympics, but with the subjective nature of how they score contest it’s likely it will eventually be removed, with the medals delegitimized, Similarly to how they removed rollerblading from the x games.

Sadly yeah.. hate to be negative about it but it's sad going to skateparks nowadays I started in 2010 lots of skaters for every skatepark in my area, we would all go out to la and all skateparks there had skaters. All the way till 2016 and then I got injured not because of skateboarding but cause I was being dumb w/e point tho, but I would still skate at least 2/3 times a week, parks still had ppl old and new skaters. After covid and during it I think everyone's groups got scattered and since skating just isn't as fun without ppl they stopped skating and moved onto other things. All the new gen skaters no matter the age started playing video games like valorant or overwatch. They didn't progress and have no reason to skate when no one is at the parks especially the experienced skaters who they can learn from. If we talk about covid and progression loss it really affected the kids education as well. So covid just got to everything besides online interaction (video games bigger than ever) Really the only ppl left in my locals are older skaters who come around once and while myself included. Whenever I go by myself on a random day sometimes there is no one there besides 3 or 4 new gen skaters every other day, rarer days is when all older skaters end up at the park filling it up. Street skating is dead for sure though which is sad cause hanging out outside was one of the best parts. You can say covid generally stopped the older skaters from teaching the new gen skaters somethings as well, because I wouldn't have went on skate trips in my teens without the older ppl in my group with cars

Great stuff Savannah! Your progression video was done very well showing both the hardships and the victories. Very encouraging to other younger skaters. Good clean music. Other younger skaters will really value your positive input. Keep up the great stuff💖

i agree. we all need something that fulfills us. i also agree. consuming too much social media is unhealthy. even these skate videos with some super experienced skater is edited and inflated. doesnt matter how good you are as a skater you still struggle and it humbles you.

You didn't really start from the beginning. But good on you. Was ouch at the start when you showed both thighs pretty gravel rashed & bruised. That is the truth of it but you were still smiling. That attitude got you past your first month & onwards. You go girl. Be proud, you deserve it. Much respect.

Skateboarding isn't going to die. If anything it's bigger than it's ever been. I started skating in 1987 and let me tell you how dead it was back then. Skating is kind of an underground sport in general. It went mainstream in like the late 90s or so. Maybe good skater dont skate at skateparks. Maybe you're into the social aspect of it and just haven't found your click. I get that and nothing wrong with that because I love how many people I meet skating nowadays. Idk about some of the stuff you said I think it's just your perspective on it. But no skating isn't dead, I wish it would die because I want these skateparks more to myself. I guess it depends on where you live. People fade out in the years I skated. They either got hurt, or weren't sure if it was cool. I recently had to stop because of knee injury so I might have to quit. Some people just get bored of it, or don't have time, or don't want to get hurt. Once you reach an advanced level you're getting hurt and that sucks, lots of people stop because of that. You're still really young, so if you love it enough it will come back to you! Considering you could technically skate until you're 60.

I just wanted to say that I love your skate content and you come off as a genuine and kind person. However this video was tough for me because I truly believe that our bodies are temples and too sacred to be sold❤️ wisdom is more precious than silver and gold. Sending love your way and I hope you’re doing alright and that this doesn’t come off as condescending! Much love❤️❤️

The mainstream already killed it. The only skaters getting attention are those skateboarding blond bimbos on Instagram exploiting their female looks and skateboarding for profit/attention.

I remember I was 13 and saw Roy Purdy in 2017. Started skating, no one else around me sticking for more than a year. Still going strong 6 years later with only flat and for 6 months also a flat rail that I currently try to master. Keep Pushing!

I actually started skating when the pandemic hit in 2020 I bought my first skateboard and started learning then just because I was bored and had nothing to do lol but I actually stuck with it and I’m from Philly and it always felt like I was skating alone at the time but now I live in Cali and I found so many people who skate so many skater friends and it’s pretty great so I don’t think it’s dead I think it’s still thriving!

Snowboarding saved my life. I was an alcoholic for 5 years, head down a bad path of health issues. I used to snowboard as a kid but after high school life happened. We'll one day I woke up dumped all the booze, ate the withdrawal and bought myself a board. 2 years later and we're riding clean and depression free
