I'm almost certain I could've pushed for a podium in qualifying if I even had like a session or two of practice beforehand. I'd really worked the track out by the grand finals so I reckon I could've pulled a podium off in that case 😅

Hiya mate, elite member here, only been a couple times but used to race motorbikes so know the mechanics of racing, still kind of getting used to the kart, im not fast but im definitely not slow, fastest lap is a 53.4, just wondering on how you think i could get into them 52s, could you maybe do a vid or explain to me how your riding and driving round the track and i could indoctrinate it into my driving, i feel i could get really quick but just missing one small little thing, tryna get into karting proper, been like 5 times and im doing low 53s 90% of the time.
@JB-Karting13 күн бұрын
It mostly just comes down to how well you're taking each corner & how often you're braking. This hotlap was taken on the old tyres which had a lot less grip than the current ones, so it should be a lot easier to get to my best time. I'll explain the overall lap, but just bare in mind I don't know how much it has changed with the partial new surfacing & grippier tyres. For me, I only have three braking points around the entire track - T1, top of the upramp (just to stop the kart from gaining air), and the hairpin right before the downramp. Every other turn, you can just let off the accelerator or take it flat out. The final S bend should be possible to take flat out. Unfortunately the boost button has a ridiculous cooldown of 60 seconds, meaning you either have to forego it every other lap or use it in different places each lap. When you're on a good hotlap, the usual recommendation is to use the boost when going down the ramp to gain the absolute maximum speed going into the final corner. Lastly, if you're on a good hotlap, make sure to send it over the start/finish line rather than taking the racing line to gain that extra tenth or so. Just make sure you don't also send it into the barrier when doing it 😂 Hope it helps!

Hey I have my regionals here, I'm surprised you didn't use the big track for locals. I hope I'm not on this layout for the regionals. Do you know why you wasn't on the other layout?
@JB-KartingАй бұрын
From what I'm aware, regionals will also be using the normal circuit rather than the international, so the same as we did here. We were told in the briefing it was something about them being able to marshal the smaller circuit much better than the international, whether that's the real reason I couldn't tell you for certain

What would this track be like with electric go karts
@JB-KartingАй бұрын
I think this layout would be pretty crazy for the electrics. Sadly, I fully expect this layout to be completely changed once they do move to electrics
@uKBaZ84Ай бұрын
Did you even break? I'm there tomorrow, so any tips would be greatly appreciated 😂
@JB-KartingАй бұрын
From what I recall, the only place you really need to brake is at the bottom of the ramp with how much speed you carry from it. Definitely get a feeling for it first and experiment with what works for you 👍

@JB-KartingАй бұрын
@@uKBaZ84 that's not bad for your first time, bit more experience with the track and you'll get that down in no time. This footage was on speed 4 last year, and my best speed 3 time is 37.114 👍

Hi mate, my fastest laptime was a 55.6. I follow very similar lines as you but im 3 secs off you. Do you think it could be my weight (85kg) or is it just my inputs are all wrong
@JB-KartingАй бұрын
Weight will definitely play a part in it, but how you enter each corner will determine how well you can carry speed into the next one. Just takes plenty of practice to get a consistent pace on the same lines. These kind of lap times are usually set on member sessions (granted this lap time wasn't set on the new grippy tyres) so I'd recommend going to those if you're trying to reach the lowest times 👍

Can you go flat out down the hill through the S?
@JB-KartingАй бұрын
This was set on the old tyres so it would normally depend on how good the kart was. Since the karts now have new tyres with way more grip, you should be able to take it completely flat out no matter what
@chrislove58842 ай бұрын
Aaahhh new tyres are on now then! I went faster level 3 than another kart level 4 earlier this year. Pile of new tyres were sat by the garage area.

Usually depends on the kart, some can definitely be harder than others to steer. I'm pretty used to these kind of karts having tough steering, but from what I recall they were about what I would have expected for them

Gonna be honest, when I first saw it about to unfold, I was so surprised you'd managed to avoid it completely considering you were basically with them right as they spun. I've unfortunately fallen victim to someone spinning exactly like that and not being able to avoid it in the petrol fleet, so I was not getting myself involved in that this time. What a crazy race though 🤣

@JB-Karting yeah them 40 lappers in febuary was mental, cos it was £25 they was fully booked and cos the temp was quite cold that didn't help either after the pitstops. When following non members through there I'm always expecting them to put it in the wall and try and be ready to swerve around them 🤣
@JB-Karting6 ай бұрын
To be fair, I think the full grid with most of the non-members made for a very hectic but fun race overall, never know what you might face around the next corner, hopefully not face first into them or the barriers 😂
