As always, after a few hrs of sleep & thinking, i was wandering if you thought about this? You have signs of hydro locking from the looks of the starter ring are you sure it dosent have a cracked head wt a small leak into 6? PS. Id love to see a whole in a rod! Please show!

The rod hit the cam then the rod broke your lucky it didn’t do more damage it usually kills the block that’s builder error all day. 400s you need a stroker rod and clearances between the rod and cam when it swing’s

If that’s a 400 and it didn’t have a small base circle camshaft it could have hit the cam. That’s the one that usually hits 2 and 6

So Sorry this is happening. I had borrowing anything from someone for this reason. Unless your person builds it with parts you pay for. Its a huge risk to take on. I hope the owner realizes this and treats you fairly. I wish a big company like Dart, SM racing anyone that can sponsor your have of the build. Honestly would be cheap exposure for a big company. To be linked to you and your channel.

Typical rod failure that spot at the big end is where the rod goes from rotational direction to reciprocating direction. Could be detonation or bad rod. Big and little end are still together for the most part so nothing there.

The big end was still attached and bolted looke like, just broke in the middle. Thats when it gouges the cyl up.

Even though it broke the camshaft those front cylinders should have still been in time and there should be no piston to valve contact so you really gotta check piston to valve clearance when you put that back together because it looks like there’s not enough

@@DSRE535 your right i see where the exhaust valves were kissing. In the video it looks like they just touched on the edge of the dome. Makes you wonder how much flex was present from that number 6 throw back through the crank through the timing set to those front lobes. Or maybe it jumped, stretched chain or something when it broke.

Yeah either the piston to valve clearance was off or he floated the crap out of the valves to hit like that

@@stevenbelue5496hence why I said they really need to check piston valve clearance when they put it back together, I think that I would make sure to widen the LSA a few degrees at a minimum on the new cam

Scats have the holes, i remember Tom Lieb talking about the positioning of the hole not altering the strength of the rod and making it lite. I personally would rather have them solid without the holes.

Going to guess and say that whoever sold this engine to the guy wasn't honest about what parts were in it.. think I would have taken it apart to make sure before running.. that's terrible news about raggedy ann.. it's been down they for awhile now and it's just been sitting there.. atleast someone still has their morals and integrity to call you and let you know that the car was just sitting
