The fenders aren't for looks; they keep any water from the road from spraying up off of the tires. The rear fender in particular keeps the rear tire from soaking your back from your butt to your neck with water and mud. You want to take them off because you don't like the way they look... you're not too bright, are you? 🫤

I know this video is two years old, but I just came across it. I own the previous model GX with a 300 Wh battery. Yes, it is quite possible to get 40 miles range on relatively flat terrain. The people claiming otherwise have obviously not ridden one. BTW, I have over 1000 miles on my GX. Now that the battery has some age on it, I don't think I'd push it past 30 or so. However, on flat terrain, it is quite possible to ride with no assist. First gear is quite low.

I've had many more flats with fat-tired bikes. Could just be bad luck, but some flats were due to the increased frequency of inner tube pinches internally which can't just be bad luck...more likely due to the increased tube surface area increasing the risk. Also, I have had far less success patching fat tires, whereas I NEVER had any issue patching smaller gauge tires. They are also easier to over inflate, with devastating consequences. Is there something wrong with the rubber of the larger inner tubes? Consequently, when riding on a fat-tired bike, one needs to carry whole spare tubes in case patching doesn't work...and fat-tired tubes take up a lot more space in one's pannier and are heavier to carry, (as well as the higher expense mentioned in the video). I have not seen quick release hubs on fat-tired bikes, do they exist? More flats, more difficult to repair ... almost nothing recommends fat tired bikes IMO unless you are touring exclusively on sand or snow. Unfortunately, I didn't know better prior to my last E-bike purchase, and I bought fat tire bikes for my wife and myself, purchases which I continually regret. I strongly advise anyone looking for a bike or e-bike to never ever to get a fat-tired bike. 2 in tires are probably the most anyone would ever need even for carrying a 35 lb 60 Ah battery. Frankly, I think it could be done on a 1 inch tire.

Well that’s pretty interesting! I saw a vid for another bolt on motor that connected to an adapted disc rotor, but looked like it would fail with the first bit of grit in the mechanism. This looks like a much better design, it’s connecting to the existing drive train (not the breaks!). The giant cog is par for the course these days so doesn’t look strange, and then a tidy motor hanging down like a friend to the derailleur. Has potential!
@TheFrickinShredder7 күн бұрын
Agreed. Looks like it grips onto the sprocket nicely. Now if he can just get the price down.

We just got a new battery or work that run off hydrogen for forklifts. I'm kind of leery because they threw out terms like thermal event and don't use your walkie-talkie while standing by The filling station.

Here in Alaska, you would never get pulled over for this. We got kids riding ATVs, snowmachines, and all other sorts of fuckery on the roads. However if you do this ONE thing, the cops won't bother you. That thing is (ride on the shoulder or bike lane).
