Finally unbiased info! I'd like to share more (recycling an old comment) done my research! here is a history lesson for all: the Romans didn't "give" the land to anyone, let alone the Palestinians. When the Romans conquered Judea, they took it over as part of their empire. they renamed it "Syria Palaestina" after the Bar Kokhba revolt in 135 CE to spite the Jews but that's not the same as handing it over to a new group of people.. now, about the people. the region has always been a melting pot. Even in ancient times, it was home to Canaanites, Israelites, Philistines, Jews, Christians, and later, Muslims. by the time the Romans expelled many Jews in the 2nd century CE, the area was already super diverse. soo, no, the Romans didn't just evict one group and install another. oh and one more thing id like to point out~ the Jews didn’t entirely vanish after the Roman expulsion. jewish communities remainrd in the region throughout history, even under different rulers.. so, there's a continuity of Jewish presence that's often overlooked in these discussions.. jumping forward a few centuries.. the idea of a Palestinian identity as we know it today came about much later, mainly in the 20th century. before that, the folks living there were identified by their local, religious, or ethnic communities, not by a national identity like we think of today. and now to modern times. Israel was established in 1948 (after a series of massacres and the Jews who formed Israel are European Jewish refugees. before that there were Jewish, Muslim, and Christians living together. and also pointing out that Omar Ibn Al-Khatab took the land from the Romans and ordered to bring the Jews back to their homes) and the whole Israeli-Palestinian conflict is a tangled web of history, nationalism, and claims to the land. BOTH Jews and Palestinians have deep roots and significant connections to this land, making it a complex issue that can’t be boiled down to simple historical soundbites~
