I really don't understand this comment... Boa is fluent in three languages - her native Korean, English, and Japanese. And by fluent, I don't mean being able to conduct the simplest of conversations you'd learn the first week in a foreign language class. You can tell because she understood everything the interview said as she spoke informally and super quickly to her and her replies were completely coherent. Also, her accent is really good compared to the average Korean who knows English. But really, why care about that when every language has different accents even among themselves to the point where it's sometimes difficult to understand that person (e.g. various UK accents)? In regard to the interview, I didn't see a problem with it. Fan or not, she was clearly being really nice in a typical American way which is how things often go when a journalist interviews an entertainer. Now if this was the Dalai Lama, president, a crime victim, etc. where you need to be super professional then that's different...

Sosmcs See I'm sure there are fellow Americans who would cringe at your accent/dialect, too. Boa isn't a native speaker (only began learning when she was 13 or 14) and has spent the majority of her career singing in Korean or Japanese (with the occasional English version, but that's not very common). That she is capable of holding a coherent informal conversation (pronunciation mistakes notwithstanding) is an achievement that many language learners strive for with a second language, let alone a third. The lack of formality is normal when interviewing an artist (singer or actor). That's always been common and it's not like the interviewer is being racist or patronizing (speaking loud and slow or something equally ignorant). Obviously, you've never seen an interview by Ellen, Wendy, Oprah, Tyra, or an MTV or BET interview... They're all laid back.
