@Al.j.VasquezАй бұрын
Wow, it seems like it would take almost 12.000 miles in order to get them real flat, they will last a long time.
@papertiger795Ай бұрын
Thanks! This may have answered my question... Im not sure I have the skill to run this tire. I'm still a relatively new rider, and think that it's in my best interest to sacrifice some longevity for something more easily field repairable. I'll go back to doing research, with that in mind. It seems like you're gearing up for another epic trip, and I can't wait to see where the bike takes you. Happy trails!
@TheWanderingGeezerАй бұрын
I ran these on my GSA, they're fine, no better or worse than many other tires.
@Casey_SchmidtАй бұрын
I had these tires on my CFR250L for over 3,000 miles and really liked them. The rear was great because it didn’t wear quickly and gave excellent traction on/off road. The front wasn’t so good but was still accessible. They definitely aren’t the best but for the price, I think they’re hard to beat.
@thepaytonsvideosАй бұрын
Did you have any problems with the front being wobbly at highway speeds. I had a Dunlop d605 on the front before with no problem but I’ve balanced this one twice and it’s still unstable on the highway.
@Casey_SchmidtАй бұрын
@@thepaytonsvideos My problem with the front was never speed wobble. In looser gravel and sand, it would wash out easily. Also, it became quite out of round as it wore down making for an imbalance that could not be fixed. It was okay when it was new but it got worse over time. I still liked the rear. I think a lot of our experiences with tires are dependent on our rising style and our local terrain. I think that's why there can be such wide opinions on tires.
@papertiger795Ай бұрын
I've been looking hard at these. They look cool, and seem to be giving you good service. I've heard they are a real bear to get on and off though... Which doesn't bode well for a backcountry flat. Your thoughts?

An excellent question and one that I also asked. I did a video about this back last fall but never posted it. I’ll see if I still have it and upload it for you.

nice video, thanks for sharing, sometimes you might need to air down on tire pressure in deep sand
@thepaytonsvideos7 ай бұрын
The handlebars went suddenly hard left and in a blink of an eye I was down. It was around a curve and downhill. There was allot of cattle in the area so I was cautious. I saw allot of tutorials for riding in sand when I got home because of this crash. Besides airing down tires, stand, keep your speed at 20 or more and letting off the throttle is the same as braking. I was guilty of all these. I had more camera problems after this crash than before with many missing audio and making clicking noises. But Wyoming was not through, putting me through the school of hard knocks yet. Thanks for watching and commenting.

@thepaytonsvideos7 ай бұрын
I’m glad to help. I hoped you watched some of the cold weather videos. Winter is a great time to hike. Here is my advice. Leaves may hide obstacles and holes. It’s easy to slip on a wet rock hidden under leaves. Beware of hunters they are not supposed to hunt directly on the trail but I’ve met many doing just that so wear some orange. Hanging a bear bell on your pack to alert hunters may be a good idea. Weather can range from warm to rainy then windy and cold. Usually in that order. Hypothermia can sneak up on you and just drinking a hot coffee or even water helps snap you out of it. I always try to carry a couple of extra lightweight meals like Ramen noodles in case I have to hold up in a shelter to wait out a storm. That’s my 2 cents worth. Enjoy your trip and thanks for watching. JP

Hey Payton.. I'm starting your series from the beginning and am curious about what camera your using?
@thepaytonsvideos9 ай бұрын
Hi Dan, Just older model GoPros. I shot most of the videos with a GoPro 6. I had a 5 mounted on the handlebars an 8 as a backup but it kept locking up. I had a 7 but lost it at a river crossing in TN near Tellico Plains. The 7 was the best of them and the 8 is so buggy that I stopped upgrading. I’m currently looking at other brands. I hope your rotator cuff surgery works out for you. I’ve had both mine done.

Sawyer Permethrin sold in Walmart is the best option for clothing and gear. I’ve spent days in the woods without a single tick or chiigger. Nothing stops the black flies in New England that I know of except clothing and mosquito net. But they will still get in a cuff or any opening. They made for an interesting walk through Vermont.

@thepaytonsvideos11 ай бұрын
I’m not sure if I’m ready for the TAT. But it was mostly fun. I’m glad you are enjoying. I’m not very good at filming or editing. I think of it as home movies that everyone can watch. I’m certainly not trying to make money from it like some people. If you do ride the TAT be ready for roads that are gated, disappear into corn fields, or that just don’t exist anymore. I don’t think it’s been updated much in a long time.

@@thepaytonsvideos for what it's worth, I much prefer your presentation to the slick stuff you'd get from the Itchy Boots or Dan Becker types. You're right, this probably won't make you a household name, but I think that's the point of KZbin, or at least it used to be. I appreciate it. As far as the TAT goes... If it's not frustrating me and making me curse it out daily... It's probably not worth my time. I'm weird like that.
