I get the dissapointment at not being informed about a feature/having to go out of your way to find out about it, this is a problem for multiple reasons and your video is bringing up a much needed debate, while I don't think the gacha mechanics are an important thing in the game itself, live service games like this are relatively accessible and therefore easier for younger audiences to access. This issue has been made aware by the recent popularity of gacha games but its still an important thay needs adressing. As someone who got into the Nikki games quite young, it is so easy to just pick up these kinds of games, I found the games from just searching the app store for cute games that seemed interesting, no advertising whatsoever. From someone already familiar with the franchise it being gacha was a no-brainer, but I didn't realise that for someone on the outside looking in (like you) it wouldn't be obvious which is why I feel like if someone not familiar with your series can't tell that there is x then you need to advertise/explain that it has x and what x is. This lets parents know that hey this game contains gambling mechanics and it lets people who don't like gacha games know hey you probabky won't like this it contains gacha. As for the concern on how good the gacha is and if its ftp friendly or if you need to get y from a banner because of a meta that can stop you from progressing, Infinity Nikki's drop rates are sooo much better than Love Nikki's and other gachas (I don't remember there being any pity for Love Nikki and I haven't really played Shining Nikki so I cant speak on that), from what I have seen the pitty for one of the outfit pieces is really low (If I'm remebering right, its every 20 pulls), you also are guaranteed the full set in about the same amount of pulls as genshin (~180) probably less. They also give you free items based on the number of times you pull, I think its to create an incentive to pull on the banners but if you aren't interested in the gacha you can just dump a few crystals to get what you want from the goodies and just ditch the gacha. This is just from what I have seen from people playing the beta so I don't know if it will change on release. But the outfits on the banner aren't going to make or break your game the only difference is that they're a higher rating (sr/ssr) and therefore have higher base stats, ultimately if you want the outfit you pull (and have good rates to get what you want), if you don't you skip. There are many other outfits that you can find or craft that are just as pretty and that can get you a lot of points in the stylist battles, granted it is a bit of a grind but thats the point of the game. Also fun tip for stylist battles, just add as many accessories as you can with the desired stat for that battle (cute, lively, cool, elegant etc) the outfit might not match but you will get more points. Having played Love Nikki, I was expecting it to be a live service gacha game and I'm glad it isn’t a paid title. One because of familiarity, two because I wouldn't be able to just drop that kind of money into a game and three because the game isn’t fully done and its something that can and need be expanded on in small updates, it was already announced that they are working on the house feature but that it wouldn't be out during launch. Tldr: Advertising that it is a gacha game is super important and they should fix that. Gacha rates is actually good based off of beta. I like that its a live service game.

hello from the other side! TLDR: most peopleplaying the nikki series play knowing and planning not to get everything, but it will probably be a tad more FTP then Genshin. Also there is a $60 dress up game called fashion dreamer but it has basically no story. As a sort of love nikki veteran I can say that my views on its friendliness are mixed. As FTP on the og 2d game I can say that the original is on the friendlier side, the English server (which came out after the Chinese server) has a history of not transferring free suits or welfare events, however this is unlikely to be a problem with IN's global release. It however has a variety of events at different Premium currency (dais) costs with the general rule that you can get approx 4000 a month wich is roughly 2 5 star suits or one animated suit (remember its 2d). It also has quite a few non-gacha events which guarantee the same cost for everyone, with there generally being a scale on how gacha like events are, with the most gacha like events having either a garenteed suit from a collection, or garenteed draws of items from a specific suit. This game also has high quality suits you get from just playing the game, you can pretty easily complete story chapters and newer craftables also increased in quality along with events. I also just wanted to mention that most style battes are easy with the only place where having high scoring outfits is in the stylists arena where you face others based on point values, this basically makes 2 achievements lockes to FTP players, but that doesn't meaningfully impact on player experience. As for the 3d release shining nikki, I never relly played that game but the consensus on reddit is that its frienyness is ranked somewhere between LN and time princess(same genre game). They seem to have kept the free craftables and have low cost events but I'm not entirely sure, they also don't seem to bring back limited time suits for crafting or dias in the store after events end so that may carry over to IN like in GI which I am not happy with. Apparenly all the events are gachas too which isn't great, remember LN has a lot of events which are just spending like 2000 for a simple suit. It seems that events are longer and have higher costs and come a little less frequently. The reputation for the nikki series is that they are generally FTP friendly with no end-game content that would require whaling. For FTP players you will not be able to complete everything, but there is a general culture of not needing to, as personal taste is the deciding factor when it comes to pulling for anything. It seems that there will be a move to the gacha system being more expensive in IN like GI, but it is likely that they will increase rewards to compensate (I imaging FTP account being able to get a new suit every 2 months). Historically there have been many paywalled suits in the series, this is going to continue. Historically there have been good FTP suits obtainable by everybody, this is going to continue. as @durd320 said, bigger game = need more money. It's probably gonna have a good story though, since the focus is on the outfits important characters can just be having full arcs before leaving the story, there is no need to avoid having a character sacrifice themselves for the greater good because you can still take the clothes of their lifeless body and cosplay them over their grave lol. As for being not marketed as live service that was probs intentional as it doesn't fit too well with the "cosy" image the game is trying to portray, but I agree they should make it more clear when downloading it for ethical reasons (don't want you 10yo daughter gambling). If you want a $60 dress up game I would reccoment fashion dreamer, but it really isn't story based game, or a game you can play for more than an hour at a time according to reviews. I've never played azure lane but I would say it pretty similar to LN in terms of friendliness.

As long as IN doesn't end up having a set that have special ability than others for a certain puzzle or ingame mech like Genshin rn with Natlan char then I think it gonna be ok. And also Infinity Nikki don't have anything like endgame content to deal with, so u can just ignore the banner if u really don't care about the new sets.

TvT i think the monetization is going to be similiar to that of genshin impact's, since that has somehow become standard practice for these kind of large scale gacha game productions (might be a lil worse since outfits are split into pieces? or better if they change the drop rate accordingly because of how items are distributed (genshin's drop rate for a 5 star was 0.6%, not accounting for a 50% of getting a character that's off banner, this would be horrendous if each piece of an outfit would have this abyssmal a rate, i think something around 8-10% would be fair)). Tbh i would be pleasantly okay with it? The og nikkis (love nikki and shining nikki) used to have gacha events thats really heavy on spending, like they would incentivize you to spend to get certain pieces of an outfit, or some outfits are straight up unobtainable without recharging iirc (esp for love nikki since at the time there was no standard practice for these kinda stuffs so each dev team would make up a whole unique monetization model with some ranging from utter insanity to milder f2p stuffs like azur lane, this is also why i believe that while people like to criticize hyv for their very "predatory" gacha bs, it's actually somewhat of an improvement for these gacha titles since this could be a lot worse). + The gacha in the nikki franchise is somewhat of a tradeoff since without it the devs wouldnt make enough to afford making bigger productions for each entry ( love.n was 2d -> shining.n 3d-> inf.n full blown open world).

Oath Rings are send out mostly on the Anniversary, outside of that there are one time events where they send out Oath Rings(like follower milestones on Twitter). Also the double oath ring sale comes around sometimes. Again, mostly around the Anniversary, but also around Valentines Day.

Nikki series is new to me too. I can't remember when I first saw this one, but I did notice it was gacha and that's fine. Even great for me, since it means I can try the game without paying up front. If it was a full price release, you're going to have to be pretty sure to commit to it. A common discussion point with gachas is how free to play friendly they are. Azur Lane is kinda an exception in that area. If that is your expectation then most other gachas will require a mindset adjustment. AL and Genshin are my long term gachas. Genshin rate is lower, both in pulls and chances, but there are also far fewer collectable characters than AL. If you don't want to spend on it, you have to choose who to try for. Short of insane luck, you're not getting everyone without paying. You don't need everyone either. They have done a great job with the characters making you want them, but none are essential for the majority of the game content. About the only area where spending is needed is if you want to competitively speedrun endgame, but that's a niche of a niche.

Great video i got all my pulls, im personally disappointed in this collab.If you watched To Love Ru you know what a huge aspect of the show is about(ecchi). I was really excited for reload, but I really don't like the new vocals, the new instrumental tracks are great, and the original tracks using the new vocalist are good, but all the recreations of the original ost using the new vocalist is really disappointing. Same goes for the new VAs, I really don't think the quality is nearly as good as the OG, I honestly think even if I hadn't played the original and gotten used to those voices, I'd still think the original VAs were way better. Especially Junpei is really a let down, some lines that are meant to be somewhat sarcastic or faked sounding end up sounding genuine, genuine scenes sound more comical, etc. Not to mention paying $100 for "All the DLC", only for Aigis expansion to release at an extra $40.

Btw, the Chidori revival event was also in FES and Portable, it was just more obscured back then in terms of unlockability. In fact, her survival is even mentioned in P4 Arena Ultimax.

The FES version is so overrated. I played P3P and preferred that way of interacting. The P3 3D graphics are ass, walking is just slower and the scenery is not exactly breathtaking. Being able to just point at what I want to interact on P3P was muuuch better. Anime cutscenes are just ok, didnt miss them at all. I say P3P is the best non-remake version easily lol

I agree with the Chidori thing but I dunno if anyone's pointed out that that's a thing in fes and portable as well tho it's a bit harder to get compared to reload. Defs agree with most of your points tho!

No matter what people say about anything regarding reload tonally, music wise, or its presentation which is all subjective, it is going forward the way to play for 99% of people and it will not be a question for them to go back to the older games since these games are like 80 hour experiences and they’ll just stick to the newest most user friendly version since that’s a lot of time to invest. The average fan doesn’t like the old graphics, ai party, clunky ui and such. If anything Reload selling 1 million in five days shows how people would rather play a new version that's updated then FES. Reload trounced the prior versions to an insane extent and probably already sold past 2 maybe 3 million given it’s been 8 months and given there's no real modern way to play FES on modern consoles and people don't exactly like setting up emulation their always gonna head to reload. And now with episode Aigis it now has everything FES had and even more with the link episodes, better vocal direction and consistency in voices, voiced social links, better fusion, compendium transfer to episode Aigis, and night time activities are expanded, more Strega, and plenty more. so there’s no reasons for the majority of fans to play the other versions other then FEMC in portable cause she adds a completely different experience. This is coming from a FES fan who loves the original game but I can be realistic and realize that this is the game 99% of people would enjoy regardless of the critiques and issues it has.

Persona veteran here, I can honestly vouch for playing each version. Play “The Journey” in FES, play as FeMC in Portable, then play both “The Journey” and “Episode Aegis” (The Answer). I think they all bring special elements to the table that aren’t found in the other versions.

I would say Reload is the most definitive way to experience Persona 3. However, the thing with having different versions gives reasons to play the other games. Obviously, people playing Portable are only playing for the FeMC. FES has the answer built in to the main story without DLC. The original has the greatest difficulty if that's your thing. Reload is the most polished and the most beginner-friendly to people wanting to experience 3. Also, it makes. a great intro to the Persona series as a whole. I also really enjoyed the color palette, especially the colors in Reload. It makes it feel more retaliating imo.
