Eye-opening; and an excellent performance. Thank you Talens for giving us these much needed invitations to look beyond Mozart for operatic music of this period, as we all should. Reminds one of “Quando più irato freme” from Salieri’s Europa Riconosciuta and Il Mondo alla Rovescia.

Best rendition ever of this recitative and aria. Mr Spence manages to control a big dramatic voice with a great mezza di voce technique and musicality, and creates a perfect historical informed version. Extraordinary!!

Marvelous performance. All the voices are heard weaving in and out, with seeming effortlessness. Terrific instrument top to bottom. The basses have a wonderfully musical 'growl. '

Al Pianoforte sarebbe impossibile dare la stessa potenza e brillantezza di Suono Barocco stile Rameau. Purtroppo oggi il Clavicembalo è molto sottovalutato. Ennio Morricone lo usa il molte sue Composizioni. Anche negli anni 70 nella PoP Music 😊❤

I still remember listening to this from way back in 1993 during my junior year of college in the US on Rousset's unparalleled "Pièces De Clavecin - Rameau” double CD from L'Oiseau-Lyre. It sounded so magical and different from any other piece of music I’d heard, whether Baroque or on keyboard, even harpsichord - I played it to one of my music major friends and he immediately said it sounded so “bright” because of the tuning - it wasn’t equal temperament tuning like JSB and WTC, but was meantone tuning (3rds equal-spaced between 1st and 5th) for each piece.

Mr Rousset, I am from Hong Kong and I have supported you for years since you were predominantly performing as a harpsichordist. Thanks for unearthing all the baroque beautiful pieces in recent years and I can't wait to see you and Phillipe performing in Bruxelles Protestsnt Chapel in November, Bruxelles was the place where I have spent 5 years during my student years and Protestant Chapel is my favourite venue of music there!
