everyone who thinks you should penalize the guard puller INSTEAD OF penalizing people from running away from the guard puller make no sense to me. The guard puller is literally trying to make action happen and the other person is just neutralizing and running away

As much as I dislike sport BJJ and the signature butt scooting, Mikey is completely correct. If you're consenting to compete within a ruleset that is commonly implemented with a certain style, you should come prepared to BEAT that style, within THAT ruleset. Takedowns are dope as hell, but you can't just go theiugh life as a JJ practitioner not becoming adeot at passing guards

If someone is a BJJ world champion and the other is an average MMA fighter brown belt, then the onus is on the world champ to get a sub, and anything less is a moral loss for them imo. Schaub did what he should have done and I think Mikey is salty that Schaub was able to successfully stall Abreu out.

@@bradleybreslin945 If you watch the whole match (which I wouldn’t recommend), Cyborg does try to take him down but Schaub just stuffs it because he’s a giant MMA fighter. People always post the butt scooting clip but it was a stalemate everywhere 🤷♂️

Counter point - jumping into someone doing that is jumping into a position that favors the person butt scooting. It’s giving the butt scooter an advantageous starting position, as they can position themselves to start the ground work. People with a wrestling / mma background want to start standing because it starts in an even playing field with even positioning, and allows them to take an opponent down into what would be an advantageous position that was won by merit. Of course Mikey, the king of butt scooting, would say this. Shaub shouldn’t have backed down…
