Not sure why Pat Riley is petty/getting blame for this. Jimmy has done this like 3x before. Hes the common factor in all of these ruined relationships w organizations, not the Heat. Jimmy is 35 years old w a contract for 50 mil this season and next season. 99% percent of players would play that contract out or request a trade and continue to play basketball normally, for ex: deaaron fox right now... No well run organization is going to extend a 37 year old who misses 20-30 games a season for the money Butler wants. They're definitely not extending someone who gets orange extensions and wears orange shoes while also literally giving up on the season a day after asking to go to the Suns. Jimmy Butler is 100% in the wrong and 100% bailed on them... Bobby Marks tweet from last Wednesday is below. For the past month Jimmy has clearly not given any effort, the last game he had where he performed was in a OT loss to the Pistons on Dec. 16 of 2024. Just because his team is underperforming, that then doesn't make it fine for Jimmy to just quit. Bradley Beal just spent a decade in D.C., he just moved to Phoenix with his family, I don't think he is trying to be the center of attention he simply just has a right to stay. DeAaron Fox at this point knows he is not going to be on an All-NBA team which also means he is ineligible to receive a supermax contract from the Kings. The supermax would've been incentive to stay in Sacramento but now that he knows he is ineligible he most likely told management that he would be entering Free Agency in 26-27, meaning its best to get value now/offseason rather than lose him for nothing in a year. Win for Kings bc they get value for him and Win for Fox bc he gets out of Sacramento sooner. The phrasing "open to trading" also supports that reasoning because the Kings aren't necessarily in a rush to move him before the deadline as he is still under contract next season so they have all of the offseason and until next deadline (highly doubt he is on the team past this offseason) to trade him without losing him for nothing. Fox is shooting 32% from 3, Suggs 31%, Franz 32%, Paolo 35% and Wendell 20%. Magic are already the worst 3 pt shooting team in the NBA, by 3 percent. Jimmy- "-attempted fewer than 10 FGA in 4 of the last 5 games -5 game stretch with no more than 57 points, -42 FGA and 14 FTA. The last time that occurred was in 2013. vs. Portland Moved at a fast speed (more than 14 feet/ second) 5.0 percent of the time, his 2nd-lowest percentage in a game in which he played at least 20 minutes this season -Took a shot on 14 percent of his touches, 3rd-lowest percentage in a game this season (min. 50 touches) -Passed the ball on 76 percent of his touches, tied for his 2nd-highest percentage in a game this season (min. 50 touches)"

The reason you missed it with Memphis is because they are the smallest market. When you are the smallest market, you get zero hype, you get hate, by nba media and nba refs. I don’t think Memphis can win because the nba will not allow the smallest market to win. People that think the NBA doesn’t put feet on the scale are clueless. Not WWE but some of it.

The nba has always done this. This is why superstars have 3x free throw attempts than non superstars in the same position. That is the nba communicating to the refs, to ensure this policy. Obviously, they don’t do it with incriminating communication, it’s innuendo, memos, training, etc., eventually refs understand that their bosses want to see superstars score, big storied teams win, the down 20 comeback, etc. THIS IS ALL BUSINESS! So no, the Memphis grizzlies will likely never win and if they do, it will be a result of being so damn good that they are unthwartable. People say: “what about the bucks…Denver,” etc. Those are historical teams and they have global fan bases. It’s no accident that the Celtics and Lakers have won almost 50% of the championships over the last 75 years. Think how improbable that is. 2 nba teams have won nearly 50% of championships over the last 75 years?!?!

In the western conference no, the wolves aren't as good as last year, the lakers have and will be a shell of themselves, the Memphis Grizzlies are the only real threat other than Denver who isn't even top 5 in the standings as we speak right now. Genuinely do not understand why so many people are baffled by this team. They've been ahead of schedule for 4 years and have had back to back 50 win seasons. Last season was an anomaly because of all the injuries. The Thunder with their cast being around as long as Ja Jaren and Des but people think SGA Chet and JWill are that much better? Because of what? Ja is a better scorer and facilitator, Jaren is a better scorer and defender, and Bane is clearly a better shooter. Their supporting cast isn't deeper or more versatile....I can't wait til Dec 29. Tired of this love fest for a team that does nothing but accumulate draft picks
