Use the Microsoft store to install an ubuntu virtual machine and load into that and follow the steps in the video :)

Interesting subject I don't know a lot about but trying to quickly trying to figure out more about. I live in a smallish town. and the community page has more and more people posting about a creepy drone peering into their windows. They have tried to get the cops involved but they aren't getting much of a result. I tinker with Arduinos and Raz Pis but with simpler projects. Taking control of the drone isn't a big deal, just want it landed. Do we need to know what brand or model the drone is? If its a DJI with return to home features, will it try to return home before landing if I was able to disconnect the creepy user?

If that is the case and depending on your local laws a broad spectrum jammer would be best to defeat that kind of invasion. These can usually be found by search GSM/GPS/GNSS/WiFi jammer. The jammer will cause the drone to loose GPS and controller signal and will just land wherever it is. Note if it is windy it will drift while landing due to the lost GPS lock.

@@CasualRepairs I could make one myself, but I'm just not willing to risk breaking a rule that "could" be heavily enforced. Also, from what I have researched since I said this, most drones will just return to home unless I fully take over the drone myself. I personally assume this is a DJI of some sort, likely one of the cheaper ones. Given that it's a creeper drone though, we know it targets windows and doing its thing at night. So I told some of the people to hang those small metal bead lines around windows. If it was my place I would just enjoy the whole hacking process, but since I can't be there all the time, or even a decent amount of time, we needed a more user friendly, physical defense sadly. I did think about trying to run this through a mouse / keyboard recorder and make this a one button operation for some people, but it looks like there is to many variables and risks to take without me being there in person. I would loveeeeee to commandeer their drone and nab the SD card to possibly be able to turn it over to the cops though. Thanks for the video and the message though! I appreciate it.

@@Physco219 No. I guess the problem solved itself and they person stopped flying their drone around others, as far as I was told. Move onto other projects and forgot about this one. But being reminded of it now, I should take a crack at it again.

If it is a WiFi controlled drone, this is the best strategy. However if not and depending on your location a 2.4 ghz jammer may be legal. You can buy these online, search for something like WiFi jammer/distrupter/noise maker. Do note this will jam all your devices while on, and if against the law in your country can come with large fines. In the UK any RF noise making devices are illegal.

If my drone losts conection with my phone autopilot will land it. Is it immune to this?

The drone should do whatever you have configured the failsafe to be. However sometimes failsafes do not work as planned, I tried this on a parrot bebop 2 and upon disconnect instead of landing or flying to the takeoff location and then landing it just hovered until the battery became critically low and then it landed where it was.

If the drone is being controlled by a mobile phone and does not have a WiFi password set, you can use this method to disconnect their phone from the drone. At this point you may connect to the drone using your phone and begin controlling it. It is also worth adding that if the drone does have a password and it is simple you can brute force crack it.
