It will be nice having your hydrant at a handy location. I have to run hoses to water my daughter in laws horses. I have to haul water to my horses and chickens. It's a pain in the butt.

Yes usually one pipe catches the rubbish like leaves dirt (Shingles in your case) catching the first rain and taking it away before water enters the tank in this case IBC
