Sad to hear Max Werner passed away this April aged 70, the Mellotron you see him play here can now be seen at the Rock art museum Hoek Van Holland

I am so thankful to have seen Max Werner at Kayak's comeback tour from 2000, His followup Bert Heerink sang next to him because he also still wanted to perform drumming tasks. Alas, due to health issues also prominent then already, Max was absent in the concert the next year I visited and Bert Heerink (credits: he was a great singer too) had taken over. However, Max remains my favorite Kayak vocalist.

@@miklosnanasydezso3023 In Hungary you had a great band Omega. I loved them very much but unfortunately I never saw them live. I was sad to hear that the singer János Kóbor died in 2021 of Corona.

@@sgtscheetje Szia! Köszi! Az Omega 2019-ben lépett fel utoljára Budapesten az Arénában. Az együttes 62-ben alakult 3 év kellett volna 60-hoz. Az előzenekar a Nazareth volt. Az Omega a 70-es évek közepén végén nagyon sikeres volt a Német Szövetségi Köztársaságban ahol rengeteg lemezt adtak el. Az előzenekar sokszor a kezdő Scorpions volt. A későbbiek során ahogy a Scorpions sikere felívelt egyre inkább nem barátian viselkedtek az Omegával. Az egyik leghíresebb számukat is "ellopták". (Gyöngyhajú lány) Benkő László és Mihály Tamás is meghalt már csak ketten élnek az együttesből

This is from VARA's "Nederpopzien", 1973 or 1974. Usually the bands performed live on stage but unfortunately this is lipsync: look at Max' mouth during the first few lines🤨. The synth-line after the first two couplets sounds live and improvised but when they return to the chorus it is obvious that they are playbacking. Shame! They were versatile players, I've seen them a couple of times during the early years. Ton was a handsome guy back then🤩.

I think it is really live; also considering the "quality" of the singing. I think the issue is more that the audio is way out of sync with the video because its a terrible recording

It’s not a synthesizer Max is playing but a Mellotron. A very special instrument that works with keys that play tapes. So that can lead to you see pressing keys and hearing the sound are not in sync.

Was Kayak op zijn best de eerste jaren zeker met Max Werner die altijd een eigen stemgeluid had.Maar de Kayak van tegenwoordig heb ik eigenlijk heel weinig mee..

this is the most underrated band in Holland ever. They deserve much more attention on TV and radio. Especially the period of See see the sun, Royal Bad Bouncer, The Last Encore and Starlight Dancer. Incredibly good musicians and then early twenties at that age😂
