You could use any wood for this, just need 24 pieces relatively the same size and shape.

Do you still use the Vice these years later ? Or Sandbags or double end lag bolt / carvers bolt.

@@FlukeTog my favourite vice is my Jawhorse, it's just so fast. This one's been neglected bc I keep moving and haven't been able to set up a workshop properly. Still love it though!

Good technique with creating that spoon blank. I'm not too familiar with cottonwood bark but was wondering how porous is it? Would you use the finished cottonwood spoon for liquids or just dry goods? Thanks for the video.
@carvingthecottonwood5 ай бұрын
I've stuck to dry goods, like tea, coffee, pet kibble, flour, etc. especially because of the way bark is layered, it can split and crack easily. The spoon's durability really depends on the piece of bark, and every piece seems unique like fingerprints. I've carved some that are hard like a rock, and others that didn't stand up to any use, and lots in between. The quality of the bark really depends on where the bark came from.

Just found you through a random recommend. Great job at making it nice and smooth you could try double sided tape on the back so it won't slide off the table so much or the tape and the superglue trick. Just my opinion though.
