I saw people in other videos getting worried when Odysseus got mad at Penelope, but that's the whole point. She wants him to get mad. She's trying to show him that he's still the same person in the ways that matter, because only her husband would care enough about the bed (and the implications) to get angry with her

The red eyes don't vanish. They just dim slightly, as he is feeling hope... but what was done cannot be undone. He is a vetern that has gone through trauma, and that ptsd will always follow him, as well as his actions, and that is what the entire point of The Odyssey is about. Tragic events change people so they aren't who they were before... however, that adds shields and pain around who they used to be, it doesn't erase that past, or the path to the present. Empathy, sympathy, and compassion can help ease those burdens, but never take them away fully. And if someone ever were to ignore their own misdeeds, that would be more monstrous than anything Odysseus still feels guilt about. The suitors, on the other hand, well, no need to feel guilty there, as they were about to create tragic events themselves, and far worse than most along Odysseus's journey... without the justification of everything he had gone through to get to that point.

One amazing detail about Would You Fall in Love with Me Again is that when Odysseus is getting outraged over the idea of cutting down the tree their bed is built around the music swaps his more gentle guitar for the electric guitar that represents his monster, and when Penelope responds instead of changing to her signature violin it keeps going with the guitar. Because in this moment Penelope is matching Odysseus' ferocity with her own, not merely accepting the monster in him but staring it down on equal footing and daring him to keep saying it's something she would fear or that could change a thing about how much she loves him.

I knew these would get you in the heartstrings like they did me. There were so many elements that meshed so perfectly. That final fanfare rendition of Just A Man is so cathartic and powerful, especially after Penelope's absolutely awesome belts of "WAITING!" Jorge has really built a community here. One of the least toxic fandoms I've ever participated in, and I think a lot of that is due to how Jorge has built the musical and his fandom- with open arms. Experiencing it "together" makes us comrades in an emotional struggle to find our own strength and to understand the Monsters within everyone. Thank you for being one of the reactors I look forward to the most. I'm eager to see your breakdowns when the animatics hit.

Finland was in the middle of a banking crisis in 1995, so 5 million Markka would have been around 1,180,151.22 USD. Drunk man offing himself also has an effect on game mechanics, as well. The stress meter rises much faster for the rest of the game after the player character finds out, implying a guilty conscience. Even _opening_ the case trips the event flag that leads to drunk man coming after you, even if you don't take a single thing. On the plus side, if you _don't_ open the case, he continues to be a source of jobs for you, and even offers you work helping him move into an apartment closer to town after his wife leaves him.

What I also like about the interpretation of Eurylochus not charging in with the crew is that not only does it show him accepting their fates, but it's also him kind of like following through with his words in mutiny that's like "If you want all the power, you must carry all the blame!" He took power from Odysseus and kinda was "Captain" for a while and used that power to make a decision that doomed them all. Him accepting his fate is him accepting the blame of his actions.

The difficulty with learning Finnish - and a reason why even some Finns find the language cringe - is that it's not even a Scandinavian language. It's Uralic in origin, which makes it closer in relation to languages like Hungarian. So, if you know Swedish or Norwegian, neither of those are going to be of much help in learning Finnish.

The funny thing is Antinious is the only antagonist who is human but has no humanity in him all the other antagonist are either monsters, gods, and goddesses have some humanity in them except the only human Sad fact: during ‘Hold them down’ while Antinious is expressing what he plans to do to Penelope you can hear a Viola which is her instrument almost like a substitute for her screams Antinious: only the ocean and I will know! Poseidon: Hell no! Leave me out of this! Antinious died as he lived pathetically Odysseus strategy he learned Block/lock any exits like Polyphemus Disarm his opponents like Circe Hide in the dark and aim for the torches like Scylla Leave nothing to chance like Poseidon Odysseus became the monster

According to Gwendy one of the animator for "Odysseus" she said that the song was tamed down to a degree. Turns out it was more darker and brutal in the first drafts, I remember Jorge saying he has to rewrite the last 3 songs so many times in a YT shorts before. Now I can't stop thinking about it. I hope he releases the cut songs along with some of the original drafts.

Finally, someone who knows the full story of Telemachus's "diplomatic mission"! Ive only seen people say he went to find Odysseus when in fact he was told by Mentor, Athena, to find his old war buddies and ask if they had heard anything about Odyesseus's journey home. Adds a level of maturity to Telemachus and is always a nice call back to the Illiad.

It gets even more fucked up with some greek lore with that animation, Dismembering a body was considerd to be one of the most horrible fates you could bestove on a person, they belived the soul would be splitt and you would have a hard time if impossible to even reunite yourself in the underworld, so Antinious plan was more then just ruthless. Witch also makes Odysseys decapitation sceen even more horrific to the suitors.

"Hold them down" was a song perfectly designed to make that image of an arrow in Antinous's throat at the end one of the most pleasing frames in human history. A small change Jorge made that I actually like: Melanthius in the original Odyssey isn't really a suitor, he's just one of Odysseus's servants who's disloyal and helps the suitors. However, the suitors do like him and actually have him eat with them, which is very close in ancient Greek terms to treating him as an equal. And here Jorge (and Odysseus) definitely treats him as an equal to the suitors. The extra hacking he receives could also be a reference to his Odyssey fate, where his hands and feet are chopped off by two loyal servants after they mutilate him under Odysseus's orders.

Note also about Ody's bow was that it was a palintonos, or a recurve bow. Since they curve opposite of the archer's grip at rest, it requires skill, technique, or *wit* to string, just as much as strength. And considering at the time such bows were a rarity, that means essentially no one knows how to string it
@jessewright7945
@jessewright7945 3 күн бұрын
Fun fact: to string a recurve bow you use a stance that allows your weight and legs to help string it. Ody was not necessarily all that much stronger -- just wily.

I'm praying that some of the animatics for The Challenge use the interpretation that Penelope knows that Ody is in the crowd- "Oh, could it be" being when she sees him landing his raft and coming up the shore, making the decision to announce the challenge to buy him time and give him the opportunity to get a weapon; then singing "Let your arrow fly when you know that your aim is true" right to him in the crowd, telling him that these men need to die, musing that "I never though that these would be the lengths we'd go" in order to be happy together, then going back to her room and "waiting, waiting" to see if he can survive and beat these last foes. (and, because I love Badass!Penelope, grabbing her own knives/bow to defend her room incase and suitors decide to use her as a hostage). Arrgh, I really want to see it...

I don't think many people have commented on it yet but I love the song "Odysseus", the way they say the name is first of all the older Grecian pronunciation of the name, and it is also once more a call-back to the Cyclops saga from when they were fighting the cyclops and the chanting in the background was going "Polyphemus" on a similar beat as well, which is kind of sick because in a way Ody is now inspiring the same terror into the suitors that he and his crew felt while going up against the cyclops!
@MesoJoe
@MesoJoe 11 күн бұрын
Not only is it similar to Polyphemus, but the choir literally songs Po-Ly-Phe-Mus the very first time in the song before switching immediately to and staying on O-dy-sse-us from there on. And the fact that the danger motiff is everywhere here. *AND* how the very last bit of choirs echos exactly as they were sung at the end of No Longer You

There is a few things im not sure you caught i wanna point out During "hold them down" at 19:03 you can hear Penelope's instrument do the same motif from "keep your friends close" when Odysseus screams "No!" In the song Odysseus there is alot of small things that i noticed 1- Ody blocked the exit like Polyphemus 2- he targeted torches like scylla 3- kept a distance like charybdis 4- denied mercy like poseidon 5- the fact ody has a choir chanting his name and that his name is the title of the song like the other monsters means that Ody actually became a monster
