Alex's vocals have never sounded better to me than on the first Last Shadow Puppets album. He's a technically better singer now, but the vibe on the album is gorgeous. We'll never hear that again.

I remember my parents telling me and I kinda figured something was up I was in college and read about his issues from insider magazines books ?! He was very depressed and it wasn’t drugs because he didn’t do drugs he did do some weed but weed doesn’t kill you !!!! But he was suffering from bad depression. He was sick in the head in his heart. He was hurting inside and he was seen psychiatrist for whatever happened to him psychologically and, he smoked weed from time to time to try and help him calm down relax but it didn’t help depression, anxiety, stress killed himself commit suicide

That's really depressing that his sad period had been going on at least that long when he decided to end it all, and who knows how long he had already been feeling this way when this footage was taken? An article shared that his phone literally stopped ringing for two years after Sea Quest ended (1997). And he tried everything to change his brand...coloring his hair...growing a moustache...nothing worked to help him break out of his former child star career rut. If only he had hung on a little longer he almost certainly would have had a career resurgence. Real talent is hard to keep down for long. John Travolta and Richard Gere spend a decade each as the punchlines to jokes about being has-beens in Hollywood before they came back with a vengeance.

@@sportshistorybuff319⁠⁠Yeah, it’s really sad. You can see how genuinely surprised he is that he is being recorded. By this point it had been 3-4 years since the press gave him any interest. And like you mention, his depression probably started as soon as SeaQuest ended. That’s why I find it strange that his dad mentioned that it wasn’t the entertainment industry that killed him as he exhibited signs of bipolar since his early 20s. I mean no shit, his career had for all intents and purposes ended whilst he was still a teenager so he’s obviously going to show signs in his early 20s.

@@sportshistorybuff319I also think Jonathan felt helpless because he no longer looked how he did during the peak of his fame. If you go on pininterest and type ‘Jonathan brandis with friends’ you will see some of his later pictures from 2002-2003 where he is still good looking, but looks like a completely different person from the peak of his fame. He had started balding a little bit and probably felt like there was no way back in his career. Poor guy.
