Hard question to answer... especially now that this was years ago and the bike doesn't run anymore (needs a carb rebuild). Here in Aus 250's aren't worth a lot because of a new learner motorcycle scheme called LAMS where you can have a bike up to 660cc as long as the power to weight is less than 150kw/tonne, so 250cc bikes are worth bugger all now. SO when this bike stopped running I kept it and plan to get her going someday as it's not worth it to sell her right now (espeically not running). I love the shape and the engine noise and how it all makes me feel when I ride it so like I said I'll get her going again someday like a full restoration and just enjoy it on sundays :P

Aliexpress has carb rebuild kits for the GJ74A. I also got an aftermarket CDI from there as the OEM have a massive failure rate. 7 out 8 at the wreckers were dead. It seems stupid that a good bike should not be worth much... This pisses on a VTR any day yet they go for more. @@admk69 dude any links appreciated as I can start to stock up on the parts I'll need now, and I did deal with the cdi dying already and replaced it, so one of those would be awesome too! I think with carbs rebuild and basically a major service shed be running as good as new again.

Carby rebuild kit, Need 4 one for each carby. My advice is to leave the Fuel/Air mixture screws alone. If you do remove them then record the screws in rotations before it seats. then when you replace screw in then out same amount of turns/rotations. that should have your fuel in take right. You can balance the carbs your self later or take it to a shop to do. I am considering doing a rebuild on this baby Bandit head shop quoted 440 if i supply parts, where they will hone out cylinders, re-seat the valves, do the clearances and ultrasound bath etc. All I would have to do is replace the piston heads and put in rings. Lube and reattach. Sounds easy but i know it's not....

Sonny m8 I do still have it yeah but it's not running at the moment... it's now bike #3 and has taken a bit of a 'backburner' position in my love of motorcycles.

Sonny m8 In terms of running it really needs the carbs to be rebuilt, then an oil change and some fresh fuel should see her running well. To actually be a lovely bike to ride again it needs indicators, mirrors and a new rear tyre, probably new brake fluid, maybe lines.. the list goes on, but I've committed to keep the bike for many years so she can wait :) the other two bikes are a KTM Duke 390 and Kawasaki Z1000 so I'm not exactly pining for it.

Hi foxpants.. What else did they replace? Just the gaskets???? or the Valves, Cylinder piston heads/rings and hone out etc also?

it was an old paper air filter when I made this but now it is a K&N drop in, the same model you would use for a GS500 works perfectly.
