I regularly go back to listen this. At least a dozen or more times at this point. Usually when I refer it to someone else. I don't think there's ever been a more wholesome or musically satisfying performance of, well, anything.

After the hot mess the revival turned out to be, this was incredibly refreshing to run across. Thank you for doing justice to Mr Wilson's beautiful music. ❤️
@hayweathington22 Жыл бұрын
I agree, this is refreshing to find. The revival had the potential to be great, with Jerry Zaks directing it. But the lyric changes and the casting just ruined it all. I honestly thought Hugh Jackman was going to kill it as Harold, but his performance just comes off as awkward, and Sutton's vocals are obviously not up to par with the role of Marian. Maybe they should redo the show with those guys as the quartet and Nikki Renee Daniels as Marian, her voice is so clear and concise.
@WBensburg Жыл бұрын
@@hayweathington22 From a barbershopper's perspective, the quartet was the worst part of the recent revival, even considering your appropriate comments. Even worse, there was an actual barbershop quartet with a contract to do the show, who are now involved in a lawsuit concerning their, ah... dismissal.

Thank you to your family for the lyrics… My whole family was in the play at Seton High School in Maryland in the Sixties. My father was the high note in the quartet (with the help of a little whiskey) and we children were in the chorus. The play has continued to be a script worth living. Which is: do not be a poser. You’re fine as God made you.

They knocked it out of the park. Meredith Wilson (a guy) brought small town America alive. His Music Man was the BEST musical among many of that bygone era. All you had to do to get the Quartet off track of Harold Hills con job was to hum a tune and they had to stop whatever they were doing - and start SINGING! they could not help themselves. Thanks Kreadys and Nikki!
