I saw a video from a few years ago I think. I am wondering what tool was used to cut pack a pyracantha hedge. I inherited one and we have shortage of gardeners so hope to do myself. Can you recommend. Female pensioner but super fit for gardening work :) My everyday hedge cutter ends up with bits of the hardwood sticking in the blade so takes ages to destick and get on with it.

How difficult do you find it to price these types of jobs...especially where you think it's just a small tidy up? Do you have a set price and time in mind? Do you still make mistakes pricing jobs?
@LHLgardenservices

I've been gardening for over 40 odd yrs and YES I can still get it wrong 😵...you can price by day which has an advantage BUT I've found customers don't like it....Sometimes it's my own fault because I do 'more' than required. Luckily MOST go to plan ..but not ALL

Hi Lee - on a maintenance contract of this size, do you make sure all lawns and borders are cut and weeded on each visit, or do you target different areas on different visits. I'm curious to know because sometimes I run out of time on a lot smaller contracts than this where I just visit 2 hours every fortnight...there's just not enough time to do everything...then I start stressing that I'm not working quick enough...

Mate, I just got a HLA56 battery cutter and I'm impressed, batteries go a long way and so much better for weight and vibration. I was getting serious numbness and pins and needles from using my long reach for big jobs, my arteries are screwed, but if you're starting to get issues as we're getting older, try one, see what you think. You can get an extra half meter extension on them to help with the reach as well.

Great result Lee. The residents must be very happy to see the grounds looking so much better and level. They can walk on the pavements without dodging the bushes now. That ivy is a menace. Once it gets in the roof it will do so much damage, had it in my garage and it lifted woodwork and strangled the gutter clips. Personally, I would take it down to the same height as the hedges in the winter. Lovely job. 😄
