Wow... This is such a valuable teaching tool. Most education I've got out of a video yet. I am now subscribed, and I am absolutely buying this book!

@jazzlessonvideos, In the example on the screen at the 23 second mark, how is that a F# pentatonic with an A natural? The notes are actually an A pentatonic...

Great information. I only wish I was capable of remembering it all enough to implement it.

Dude...if you dont kick it in the music industry , you definitely can do it in an audio or video format...like a voice actor! Smooth! I subscribed for the music theory presented easily. ✌️

Sounds a lot like the intro to the song Teeth by Soft Machine (an avant jazz track). Keep up the good work!

Did guys like Phil Woods, Pepper, Mariano, Getz etc ( and Chad BTW), bought this course and learned bebop articulation from it or from copying Parker, Gillespie, Davis and Co. ? Guys , go and transcribe and emulate as many of the masters as you can. That is the way. Period

“I want a banana” is the triplet version of CMAR, in UK anyway.

Great video. You should add context for feel. It’s cool to notate a lick starts on the 9 hits the m3 and lands on the 13 but a great jazz musician isn’t thinking that while playing. The know what all the intervals feel like and what the result will be before playing the licks. Gotta explain the intent of the music along with the notation for the full impact.

The Honeysuckle Rose lick is the same as the Cry me a River lick if you switch some notes around and shift the octaves, and also flat one note like you do in the altered version.

Nice job. I have always been a fan of your material.

Note: in a sense, the typical inside harmonies can actually be outside depending on established context. Even if you were consistently using interchange before and suddenly go diatonic, that can be the part that feels outside, especially if you were avoiding some of those diatonic notes or at least their function in the diatonic part.

Just bought the download after playing along to this video and transposing by ear with my tenor. I don’t fully understand everything you’re explaining, but you make it seem relatively easy. I have a lot of catching up to do 🎷
