Thanks for sharing this. I have a garbage backhand 300ft accurately in any line and 320 max... I have relied on a 375 forehand for every event I have ever played in, but as age catches up I need to learn this mythical effortless backhand 400 I hear exists. Hopefully this is a step in that direction for me.

Tristan has been helpful in pointing out my backhand flaws & is good at focusing on one thing at a time & building on it. This second session has been the best so far.

Nice! Thanks for sharing. I may have to try this. I tend to rotate the shoulders too fast which ends up not leaving space for the disc to whip out at full/close to full extension. This drill might help over exaggerate the other way, and then allow me to get a better feel for that arm to swing like a whip instead of releasing the disc with my elbow bent and shoulders turned too far.

I would suggest you see a physical therapist. I had similar issues & the PT told me to do some of these exercises at a light weight or just going through the motions, & not to push it with weights. It’s been about 5-6 months, but it is finally getting better & playing without as much discomfort again. Best of luck to you.

I started out at 180' max, but I'm 72 so my arm is a bit slower nowadays. With lessons I'm up to 240' occasionly breaking the 300' barrier (like once or twice) on flat ground no wind. But mostly I'm very frustrated trying to hit 300' on a regular basis. I've been working out a lot and practicing almost every day but it seems to be very slow going. Wish I knew what I was doing wrong.

@@seraphdiscgolf but brother, if you're having trouble walking, how can you give someone advice on exercises on how to run better and more effectively? Same for the throw. You stand vertically, with no angle in your hip or upper body. You should be bent forward slightly, at least 15 degrees on a straight or baby hyzer shot. You're not even looking at the target as you run up. Watch Simon or any of them, they are running sideways, but looking forward, until the torso rotation pulls the head slightly into the back swing. You are turning your head with your shoulders and so you over rotate in the back swing. You're spinning instead of shifting which you can see in your follow through with the way that your back leg incorrectly pivots. You spin your front hip and let the arm go forward and the back hip spins in the follow through. The back hip has to rotate with the front hip, at the same time, not after it. Here's a video on shifting versus spinning kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5aroXWNr6x_rpYsi=oQGfp-PyV54y-FMN Here's Paul McBeth. Watch how his back hip moves completely different in the downswing kzbin.info/www/bejne/nX_dp6Kae8h7f6csi=Kc8M68SnJruHTkkW

I appreciate you showing those videos. I was simply sharing a video on core exercises that can help improve core strength & rotational power. This is general strength & conditioning anyone can do. This video has nothing to do with improving form, but improving core strength & fitness. Yes, I used a video of myself because I am still working on improving my own form.

@@tomv8952 I'm not here to measure Dick's but I can throw 400. Not the furthest but I understand the basics and can implement them. I have worked with Paul McBeth s coach through online lessons for several years. I'm not trying to "show him up" by showing my form cause that's not how I roll. I'm merely pointing out that his form is not really good enough to be giving others advice. In the video he says something about me "mastering transverse plane movements" This is a subtle indicator that he's giving to the audience in an attempt to make what he's saying sound more credible. However, he doesn't have much rotation on his swing. He's mostly just swinging his arm up in the back swing and getting no leverage because he turns his head and shoulders together. So he hasn't even mastered any transverse plane movements. Instead of trying to goad me into a dick measuring contest, maybe try to argue against what I'm saying. If you think my thoughts on his form were wrong, attack the points, not the person.

It's not clear to me from the video how their recommendations have helped you. Have you gained any distance? How much? Have you gotten more accurate? Are you throwing with less pain than before? What sort of actual results have you gotten? I'm forehand dominant. I'm no Chandler Kramer, but most of the AMs that I play with do envy my forehand. I played baseball for 10 years when I was young, including pitching for a couple of years. I think leading with the elbow is a result of proper form. If you try to force it, you can end up with what's referred to as late elbow cock in baseball, which can lead to injury. I also think it's unrealistic to ask beginners to forehand putters 250 and midranges 300 from a standstill. I can consistently throw my drivers 360. I have rarely gotten my midranges past 300, and that's with a full walk-up. A proper walkup isn't about generating more power, it's about developing timing and getting your body in the right position to start the throw. In my opinion, that's much harder to do standstill. Maybe if you're doing a 200' putter flick it's fine, but to push a forehand 250+, a walkup will help your body get into the right position and aid in transferring the weight and all of the force properly.
@seraphdiscgolf
@seraphdiscgolf Жыл бұрын
Great questions. They’ve helped me be a little more accurate, I was a forehand dominate player. Distance is about the same, but I believe that is due to my mechanics. The training app has helped me see what areas I need work on. So with more proper practice/train I think the added distance will come with time. Ironically, I disagree, I can throw more accurately & almost as far from a standstill. That’s the case for me. I struggle with my run up during the backhand & forehand. I think Seekr recommends throwing that distance from a standstill as a precaution. They didn’t mention that in the backhand.
@gwsmallwood
@gwsmallwood Жыл бұрын
@@seraphdiscgolf How far are you throwing from a standstill? As I said, if you're only throwing 200' or so, then a standstill is probably fine. But I don't know any MA2 or lower players that can throw a 300' standstill forehand with a mid. If you can accomplish that in a reasonable amount of time, then that would be a compelling argument for investing in their training.
@seraphdiscgolf
@seraphdiscgolf Жыл бұрын
@gwsmallwood I threw a few mid’s ~250, not many but about 1/4 attempts. I can throw a fairway 250+ from standstill, but that’s a fairway. I was getting a putter around ~200’, but I feel like it would take a long time to get it to ~250’.
