Here's the main thing that's nagged at me about Hazbin. If Heaven claims their whole Extermination business is all about "population control," that implies that they view nearly EVERYONE on earth as a sinner. I only say this because in the episode Welcome to Heaven, not only was it established that no one knew the "right way" into getting into Heaven (not even the Seraphim) but the so-called "rules" they DID hold on the matter were stupidly vague. According to what I've learned, the best way into Heaven was to accept Jesus as your savior and confess any and all sins you had unto him. But at the moment, it feels like neither Jesus NOR God exist in the Hellaverse. If they do, I imagine both of them would feel rather cross about their angels committing acts of mass murder
@BiologicalRiley
@BiologicalRiley 12 күн бұрын
I’m guessing that’s part of the point though. Heaven and angels being heavily judgemental of everyone who sins akin to how religious conservatives do the same to a lot of other people in real life.

Actually...in the world of the Hellaverse (which is the name fans have given the world of Hazbin AND Helluva Boss,) Charlie's dad ISN'T Satan. Lucifer and Satan are separate entities in this version of Hell, the latter of which is the ruling Sin of Wrath

Fun fact! The Universalists DID believe that people could be redeemed, even after going to hell. So it's not like the idea has no basis within Xtianity. I see Charlie vs. Adam as a theological conflict between the compassionate Universalist, who just wants to help as many people as possible, and the self-righteous Puritan, who revels in the suffering of those they deem undeserving of salvation. As always, great video!

I had a pretty positive church experience growing up, but it was the fundies' continued hate and hypocritical endorsements of people like Donald Trump coupled with the all-too recent family losses in my life that turned me away from religion because it just wasn't comfortable to me anymore. Like you, I became agnostic. Looking back on it, I realize that my turn was probably inevitable, given that the times when I was more Christian, there'd always be some asshole who'd give me lip for being Christian and supporting the marginalized despite Christ's inclusive message of "Love thy neighbor". There was one in particular who gave me flak for being supportive of gay people which ended with the guy equating being gay with being a cannibal. If you want the full story, I'd be happy to tell you, but that's not a story for a KZbin comment. Anyway, great vid, Riley! Keep being awesome! :)

Same. Also finding out about all the fun parts of The Bible that were banned from the canon for various reasons, the punitive treatment of thoughts as opposed to actions as inherently and intrinsically sinful as if changing thoughts and impulses is as easy as changing how you act, really intensified my skepticism. Not to mention all the abuse and neglect I suffered at the hands of my religious foster parents.

Paul is a "Hero". But is also a flawed Human. He can be both. But people today just have to put everything in a box. Is much easier to do. Paul could see many possible futures. And the path he chose was the one where Humanity survives. That makes him a villain in some people's eyes. Paul saw the "Golden Path". The path that prevents Humanity from becoming extinct. He did not have the courage to take that path. He left that to his son. But he knew that the Bene Gesserit condemned Humanity to a certain death with "The One". He started the plan to save everything. Was Paul perfect. No. But if he did not make the hard choices he did. Humanity would have been extinguished. He sacrificed the thing he loved the most in order to save the Universe. And still he is called a villain. Paul Atreides is obviously a fictional character. But thank God he had to make these decisions. And not some of the "real" people that only see the surface of a problem. But do not have the will to make the hard decisions that a true leader has to make. By the last Dune book that Frank Herbert wrote. Thousands of years had passed. Years that Paul made possible by his "wicked" choices. Frank Herbert said that the Dune tale was a warning about charismatic leaders. But some people misinterpret that as Paul being a "bad" guy. If you read the whole quote. Herbert says that the followers of such leaders let mistakes that all humans make, get way out of hand. It was a warning to be warry of the process. Not an excuse to place blame. Paul did the best he could. Caused destruction. But ultimately saved Humanity. Seems a bit "heroic" to me.

Paul isn't a hero, but he is relatable. Most people would choose revenge against those that killed their family. Likewise, most people would seek power if they had the means.

Paul's decision is basically a variation of the trolley problem. On one side you have his family, his people (Fremen and off screen those people on Caladan), and on the other side you have the Great Houses and people under them.

I dunno how this video has only 150 views and you only have 600 subs, or hell, even how tf this even got recommended to me, but as someone who read the books and took a huge interest in the analysis of the books on their "real world" supposed counter-parts, I can only applaud this effort the explain the not-so heroic portrayal of Paul in the movies that somehow sneaked under the radar of so many people. I've heard tons of people who think Paul finally accepted his role as the Messiah in the Part 2, and dedicated his life to saving the universe, when this is actually so far from the truth. Hope this video reaches everyone interested in this truly interesting Sci-Fi universe. Great job dude!

I think these movies pulled that off brilliantly - he isn't a hero and when he takes the mantle he does it with a contained rage, which blew me away (hats off to Chalemet). You're so invested in the movie by that point that you want to see him win even knowing what is to come. He only embraces his destiny as the future where the Fremen (& Chani most of all) are not destroyed. The other adaptations had Paul as more of the hero figure whereas this Paul only seems like a standard hero...if you aren't paying close enough attention.

I read Frankenstein and was very disappointed by the story. But I found "Poor Things" a great movie, except for the many gratuitous sex scenes. I felt these were unnecessary to the plot and made it more or less smutty as we only needed to know that she had a fascination with sex. It wasn't necessary to show it.

wow I felt the exact opposite if anything poor things showed me why life isn't worth living. ask yourself this did we actually saw that Bella learn anything or we were told that by her? I think it is ONLY the latter and she ended up in the exact same position she was at the begging of the movie only now she is the imprisoner and the prisoner. also Duncan is such an idiot, he gave her a very clear deal which Bella fully understood and kept breaking which Bella fully understood and he fully understood. Then WHY DO YOU KEEP BREAKING IT? that won't get you what you want at all even he said it in the movie. There is a god dam limit to actions that come out of "instinct" and Duncan past it by a long shot.

Enjoy these times this is the golden era for LGBT community. Future generations will rebel against today's values especially if the population decline would become critical. They will blame the games and movies. Second, members of a certain religion will become more numerous and they will be regarded as models of sustainable societies and they will have the power to install Sharia law in certain regions and this will add to the backlash against LGBT community.

I know their encounter was brief, but in that short time, they risked their lives, saved each other, fought together, and opened up emotionally. No band is using AI art because they want to, they’re resorting to AI because there’s basically no money on the metal music industry as a whole. Most bands are broke, even the bigger bands struggle to break even nowadays and most of the money they make goes to the labels anyways not to mention bands don't make the same amount of revenue they used to make in the past like early 2000's with albums sales, for that reason record labels budget has been reduced dramatically as well, so everyone is just trying to save costs where they can. Sadly one of those costs is cover art and visual art as a whole. Trust me, any band would like hire the best artists to make their album art if they had the money.

I've been an artist my entire life. Right before AI visual, written or spoken came out, I thought about automating my already well established art styles myself. Making a 5,000 piece art gallery in five minutes instead of 5 months would help my workflow and natural creativity it wouldn't hinder it. The same goes for my stories and music. I'd still critique and change or extend each finnished piece before I put it out as my own or kept it for my private collection. Simply by using partial AI with simple art apps on my phone, most of which are free, I've been able to increase my output nearly ten fold. This is no different than me teaching a class of ten people my art styles step by step until they've mastered it then letting them continue making my art from then on. It's a system that could grow and evolve fused with the art style of those artist. What's actually happening is that we are stepping away from consumerism and into personal advancement. Big changes such as this always has a pushback.
