I remember when this beast first came out in Jan, 1993(yes I'm old) My band had been restricted to the cold 12-bit sounds of the M1, then we got to upgrade to the Roland Sound Canvas. You could instantly hear the difference in fidelity when using the 16-bit patches. But it still didn’t have that classic vibe I was looking for. Then, voila! Virtually every kind of Vintage synth you could think of. All in one rack mount! Our next album, naturally would feature the VK very prominently. When I found you could ACTUALLY edit the sounds themselves, it was like the floodgates of creativity opened for me! I would make pads out of things like the CP-70, Wurly, & most notably, ths good old fender rhodes by tweaking the attack time, bosting both the sustain & release... the rhodes sounded incredible as a pad!👍

I bought it when It came out. I paid It month by month in bloody payments!!!😂 No effects on board! You can mimic phasing, reverb, delay but at the cost of the polyphony. But with Emu You can't go wrong with sound quality!!

It's nice to hear the synth sound demonstrated by playing parts of songs that use that sound. For instance, a non vibrato Vox organ could play "Light My Fire" or the OBXA sound playing the intro to "Jump". That is how to really make the sounds show themselves. One person on Y Tube sells his created sounds for various modules and his library shows the name of the sound he created and also what song it fits into and those sounds are spot on to the songs. He will sell many sound sets because he proved what his sounds do in a way we all relate to

Nice version of Dreamer and Duke! Omg, I borrowed one of these from our guitarist in our old band, 20 yrs ago and never saw him again to return it... I also plugged it in and thought it had the thinnest, cheesiest sounds I'd heard (I was using a Roland JV 1080 at the time) and so I left it in the cupboard for 20 years... Worth £400... oops 😅
